Ukrainian Defensive War against the Russian Invasion - Mark IV: The Partitioning of Discussion

It's gonna be loud and annoying tomorrow... but so was this entire week. Just like Christmas season seemingly starting earlier every year in US, it's the same trend with pobedobesie (Victory Day). I pass schools and colleges daily, they forced kids out every day to stand like props with symbols of the cult in their hands, listening to drivel and propaganda "music" blasting for half the city to hear.
I wonder if any of their parents even realize the kind of future this regime has in mind for their children. The entire message is for them to be willing cannon fodder on demand. Secure future for the thieves in charge, not them.

Well, then again, I suppose that was true for literal centuries. It's just that we had a brief moment where it was possible to change things.

Edit: Day after tomorrow, these extended holidays fucked up my sense of time

Bro all you gotta is put them on ignore, is it really that hard? If you don't like, you don't have to see, just look away, it's not real, you pissing and shitting vinegar about opinions you don't like achieves nothing.

I'm not gonna deny that zigger mod is zigger mod but for all his ziggerishness he has the good nature to keep a light touch, which I appreciate and believe we all benefit from,
I stopped following the thread a while ago and only just read back to see the MindlessObserver incident. Several posters complained about things that fall under the purview of moderation, so clearly you're not speaking for everyone.
You also don't get to police whose blood people drink on this website.
The reason some posters here are so pissed at me in the first place is that I accurately described negative attributes they possess that are in incompatible with their self image and the way they wish to be seen, not because I said anything factually wrong or posted bad analysis.
:cunningpepe:

In case anyone wonders why this thread is so poorly moderated:
I think the only mod working on this thread is Useful Mistake.
There's broadly two styles of moderation:
Many detailed rules:
This has the advantage that standards for moderators are low, since they just need to compare the letter of the rule to the behaviour. The downside that it leads to shitposters staying just within the boundaries of the letter of the rule while violating its spirit, and rule lawyering when they get swept, endlessly occupying mods in arguments. A huge pain in the ass for everyone involved.

Few and vague rules:
This has the advantage that mods can sweep bad faith actors and dipshits as they see them. As a result, miscreants are reigned in quickly and effectively with (comparatively) little moderation effort. The downside is that it requires reasonably experienced moderators with good judgment.

Kiwifarms uses the second system and if you read a thread that is actively used by an interested mod, you can see them quickly and efficiently sort out bad behaviour, leading to enjoyable on-topic discussion.
The issue with Useful Mistake:

Facts:
1) Useful Mistake is rabidly pro-Russian.
Useful Mistake:
- is an active poster in the pro-Russia thread
- consistently posts pro-Russia and anti-Ukraine things
- knowingly misrepresented the content of neutral articles to give them an anti-Ukrainian slant
- used a Z-PFP for a while
- after being called out for posting "Ukraine bad" content in the pro-Ukraine thread, he performative posted a single "Russia bad" thing
2) Useful_Mistake claims to not be pro-Russian.
3) Useful Mistake makes moderation decisions based on pro-Russian views that are contrary to the facts.
4) Useful Mistake uses a radically different approach to moderation in regards to this thread compared to several other threads he moderates (specifically, he is VERY proactive against off-topic posting and low quality posting elsewhere).
5) Useful Mistake argues in bad faith, and dodges answering the question why he uses such an extremely different approach to moderation in this thread.
I had a conversation with him in the Talk to Staff forum in which he claimed to believe that pro-Russian propaganda slop is factual and thus not subject to sweeping, resulting in an inability to remove pro-Russian nonsense unless it's posted by a known member of the other thread.
In case you were not aware, the only things you are not allowed to post here are:
- celebrating Ukrainian deaths
- saying Russia is great
- saying NATO is bad (MAGAsisters on thin ice).
You can post all kinds of factually wrong propaganda slop that doesn't fall into these categories.
You can also post about any topic you like, there is no "off-topic" rule applying to this thread.
My conclusions:
1) Useful_ Mistake is duplicitous.
2) He lies about being pro-Russian.
3) He knows that his pro-Russian views affect his moderation decisions.
4) He does the bare minimum to avoid tainting his image as a good janny, while deliberately and maliciously permitting behaviour that degrades the quality of the thread, contrary to his stated and elsewhere acted on approach to moderation.
I think it's pretty obvious Useful Mistake has contrary opinions to the thread however the moderation seems relatively good. Your complaints seem to be that people can post factually incorrect information. Which begs the question why not just respond to it and explain why it is false? Is it because you are a whiney faggot who always needs to get your way at all times? I generally believe a more hands off janitorial style is better. The offtopic stuff is annoying though.

New total loss estimates according to the MOD. Almost certainly over inflated however still very impressive.

I'm not going to argue all that again. You know you're lying about the events and so does everyone whose opinion is worth anything.

Zelenskkkyyy quite sensibly decided unilateral truces are dumb and is droning Moskau in response, you love to read it. Mashallah some changs get blasted in the process. Can't wait to hear how this is somehow a war crime;
I hope every drone blast hole is visible from the parade route.

Just a reminder that Ukrainian MoD effectively counts anything they hit as a "loss" regardless of how badly its actually damaged. (Although at least unlike the Russian MoD, they usually only count it after its actually been hit and only count each hit once.)

It's like a cargo cult, if you repeat the right Stalinist/Tsarist rituals things will eventually go back to the way they were. Admittedly it would be funny if Ukrainian drones hit Moscow during the "March of the Defenders".

We need to face it, the old days are over and if Russia wanted the opportunity to preserve them it should have happened in 1968.

In other news:
Gazpromzisters....

The EU seeks to halt Russian gas imports by the end of 2027 and ban new contracts already this year
(They are going fail and this will certainly have carve outs you could sail a rusting tanker through will be given but at least a serious attempt is being made after 11 years. That will be blocked by Orban but still.)
This private information is unavailable to guests due to policies enforced by third-parties.

Deal hasn't gone through, likely to be stymied by the usual EU Vatniks, the only thing that is likely to have any impact at all is the banning of new leases but there's a million ways around that speedbump.
And of course it does nothing about just sending oil & gas to Turkey for laundering.

But they are actually considering doing something about the disproportionate funds sent to Russia vs Ukraine so hey, progress is progress.

…A fucking submarine? Really?

Yarly

Yep. They blew up the rostov on don in drydock. Losing a small flotilla of ships and a submarine to a country that has no navy is quite an achievement.
Its even better than that. They blew it up TWICE.

2 August 2024 attack

Ukrainian forces claimed Rostov-na-Donu "sank on the spot" after a drone and missile strike on Sevastopol that also damaged an S-400 launcher. The submarine had been repaired after the 2023 attack, and was undergoing testing off Sevastopol.[19] The British Ministry of Defense stated that it was, 'highly likely' that the submarine was sunk as Newsweek published satellite imagery alleging the submarine was replaced by a decoy with the genuine submarine partially hidden beneath a tarp nearby.

The Norks are on like a crazy development streak since the last 10 years. Things are changing steadily and the country isn't really the same anymore. Three different cities, there's plenty of examples even if the country side is still poor. I honestly think that if they survive for 15-20 years more its going to turn into some kind of prot-communist Saudi Arabian-esque autocracy with decent living standards. AI will probably help such a system where capitalist countries will eat themselves alive as it facilitates ever greater concentration of wealth.

I can't tell if you're joking. Last I checked, the ignore option doesn't work on mods.

You think that stops me from ignoring them anyway?

We love our jannies, our custodial enforcement
We love our mods, though they're not important

When I'm in a sperg, when I'm in a sperg
I know that I can report the meek
Can call up janny with the sweep
When I'm on the board, when I'm in the thread
All I gotta do is REPORT and IGNORE

And when they're out cleaning, when they're out mopping
You know I hate them more, don't think of them more
Thank you, jersh!
And when they keep us sneed, when they keep us sneed
You know they make CWCKI forums a better place
