All this saga has done since I learned about it is convince me that the majority of people who actively hate Billy are retarded manchildren like Karl.

I can understand being annoyed by him if you're actively involved in that scene, but people like Karl and the like would heavily inflate his actions as something more heinous. Is Billy litigious and obnoxious at times? Yes. Does he deserve to have his livelihood taken from him because of his behavior because an albino blamed him for someone's death? Hell no.

I've known about Billy before the current drama and at most I think lying about mundane video game shit is gay but whatever, who cares in the grand scheme of things? Him randomly getting into lawsuits with people over high scores is also gay, but I don't think any of them went anywhere and weren't particularly interesting so, again, who cares?

Karl managed to turn the good will of his fans upside-down by purposely taking attention away from his court case to epicly own Billy and paint him in negative light in every video he monetized, even going as far as getting donations to support his case only to have it all blow up in his face because he was retarded and was getting too cocky.

I'm not gonna change my mind about Billy, but he deserves to gloat for winning his case with how Karl was bragging about winning and ruining Billy's life on top of wanting to go after his son next. Karl should have just stuck to speedrun centric content because time and time again people who tend to get into making drama centric content can't help but get involved to their own detriment.

Literally proof positive that Billy was in fact defamed by Karl, in the comments of an article written by someone so far up Karl's ass that you can't tell where one ends and the other begins.

Billy asked for a modest $50k in damages. Karl had been profiting off of him for the last 4 years.
The fact that Karl decided to fight the Apollo defamation claim with a retarded argument about Donkey Kong high scores is the reason another $1.4mil was added in for legal expenses of both sides.
Then for being a detestable, vindictive, conniving little shit, the judge awarded a further ~$350k.

Karl could have just apologized to Billy, made a proper video about his mistake over Apollo and then carried on making Billy cheating vids and not be in the hole for $1mil+

The judge explicitly said he would have awarded more. Karl got off pretty easy. whats fucked him was the legal fees, but that's what Karl was hoping would bankrupt Billy so he knew the risk.

Much of the fun of speedrunning comes from the discovery of bugs and exploits, but once that all boils down to rout memorization it's not fun anymore.

Even if he garnishes Jobst's wages for the rest of his life, I don't think he'll ever get a million from it. The only way Jobst might be able to get out of it is making a deal with Billy Mitchell to do some humiliating public apology in exchange for debt forgiveness.

Heck, if I had my enemy by the balls (or the woman equivalent) and had to look for non-monetary compensation, there's no end to ideas that I would have to reduce their debt load.
