i say war effort to mean activity related to supporting a war. that includes mobilization, actual fighting, but also construction of fighting weapons, clothes, food for rations and building logistics.

I think it only counts if they're all engaged in the same war . WW1 and 2 were called that because it was two huge alliances and their globe-spanning empires fighting each other. I'm in agreement, but from a different angle. People want to pretend that they can predict the future based on the past, but history rhymes more often than it repeats. There's no interwoven alliance of opposed ideological powers with aspirations to global domination here. This is various economic hegemonic elites fighting over the last scraps of overtaxed and overleveraged systems, driving further and further instability. Conflict is mostly rising from opportunity within that malaise. Ukraine would be a very different story if Europe hadn't so thoroughly hollowed itself out to the point of being unable to meaningfully help at all. Ukraine would be a very different story if the US hadn't been so radicalized internally to cover its wholesale looting as to desire to turn inwards and stop giving a fuck about the world.

India and Pakistan can keep escalating here because none of the world really cares that much, they're too focused on their own self inflicted problems. This isn't a new front to a global cold war, this is another stage in some cycle of history that hasn't been meaningfully mapped yet, as the elements comprising it have never been at such a scale to do so much damage in their downswing.

Oh yeah to be clear, I don't think the cold war we are in (ie the west vs china/russia/iran some other spergs) is going to turn hot. I think this india pakistan shit will quite likely involve ground troops combating each other and could last for years.

I also think africa is going to have its mini civil war at some point and i wouldn't be surprised if china got into some spats with vietnam, the phillippines, and india.

The world has been waiting for this. Everything outside of NA/Europe/Australia were never meant to industrialize and advance to this level on their own. They went from being colonial territories, to being "free" but depending on the tits of white countries, and now the tits are shriveled up and dry. We're going to see how they hold up without the grown ups in the room and i don't think it will be well.

My predictions:
Sub-Saharan Africa: Shitshow
Middle East: Shitshow
Asia: Japan will be fine, China will survive but diminish in power, Some of the South asian dominos might get absorbed or collapses.
North Africa: Depends on if europe wants to bail them out and how willing they are to work together, otherwise shitshow.
Russia: Turtle up and wait to die.
Latin America: Hard to say, I don't think quite shitshow territory but diminished. Mexico might be the only winner due to US trade but i don't see it becoming a genuine power. A lot of the other Latam states will collapse and be absorbed and there will be chimpouts for sure.

If this is going to escalate into a proper conventional war, then it'll probably take a while to happen yet, maybe a month or three.
