You want a repeat? Sure, fine fine. I made myself clear enough as is, but here you go, the important highlights isolated.

1. The idea behind a lolcow is, to put things plainly as possible, someone doing unintentionally funny things or having an odd persona people find amusing in some manner.

2. A proper lolcow can't be just be the person of interest and observer angrily screeching at each other.

3. Lolcows who become boring cannot be lolcows in a present tense, as there are no laughs or fun to be had in watching them anymore.

4. You don't exclusively need a "lolcow" present to find a similar form of observational comedy, but this does not in itself make the "lolcow" as a concept any less worthwhile.

The idea of threads being lolcows was the most interesting to me. Its similar to communiy watch threads and the idea of large communties being lolcows but on a much smaller scale. A lot of threads are hugboxes (e.g containment) and that's by design. (such as this one). It gave me a fun idea.

My point was that threads cannot be lolcows, since they aren't people, but they can absolutely give a similar kind of observational entertainment.

I know. After a recent experience I must disagree though. I like the idea, community watch thread run with the idea that communities can be lolcows. So why not threads? Threads that have users that end up idolizing the thread subject really do exibit cow behavior. No matter what their idol does they always deflect criticism,which imo is the most important cow trait of never learning from mistakes.

e: also, they are people. In fact they are more people than individual lolcows. They're a BUNCH OF PEOPLE. lol

The community watch stuff is why I specifically said threads could not be lolcows, because witht hose it's less considering the community a lolcow and more a community having a similar trait/entertainment value. Yes I know this is very anal but it's just how I see things. More or less It seems the disagreement's purely terminology based here.

That's fair. Terminology is probably the issue. When I think about it I would say threads that end up like that are the "cult cow" equivalent of community threads. Maybe lolcattle? I kind of like the sound of that. It makes a distinction and you can guess you're talking about a bunch of idiots without even seeing the word before.
