Every time other time I check this thread it's got people posting the kind of angry fucking politisperg posts i've seen from reddit people the last decade but with soy wojak edits attached. Either that or people spam pinging while sending videos of themselves pissing on their monitor. There's some gems in the thread but like maybe 5-10 times when I get a notif from here it's just that shit.

Yeah, this is basically the issue. People want two different things about the site. I honestly like this thread, I tried using chat but it's hard to find something going on there that's worth talking about and posting images sucks, so fun posting is not worth it. I should have come here sooner.

It would nice to stop being reminded of him 3 times a week. I used to watch his streams years ago when he was making some interesting court coverage. I just don't care about his drama. Literally everything about him between his booking and sentencing I did not care about, but I was forced to read it.
Lolcows are boring. there isn't a single lolcow on this site i want to read about. The rare exception is when they are posting in their own thread. I would rather talk with the people here and share art, memes and music and have off-topic discussion. I realize lolcows are the purpose of the site, it's just how I feel. I like the users and interacting with them.

My view of things has always been less "lolcows are boring" and more "lolcow is a transient state of sorts". This is a weird thread to have this side-conversation in, but I think any thread is worthwhile talking about this. So here, I'll highlight the important bits for those who don't want to deal with my ramblings.
The idea behind a lolcow is, to put things plainly as possible, someone doing unintentionally funny things or having an odd persona people find amusing in some manner. You can't be like that 24/7, nobody can. Not even OPL/Chris could before he became the soulless drugged up puppet of Caden. Lolcows can't be lolcows 24/7, even if they are regarded with the mark of lolcow status. They're still people, of course.
Furthermore, a proper lolcow can't be just be the person of interest and observer angrily screeching at each other , that's just a tard slapfight at that point. This is why people like ethan ralph and others became boring. it's why a number of drama threads last year became unbearable for me to even check in despite me finding the initial events very funny. Though a rare instance, there are some lolcows who are really chill and partake in posting in their own thread, Joe winko's one of the first ones that always comes to mind, as niche as he may be in terms of internet people his demeanor is of someone who is both intentionally and unintentionally odd in a way that's just really amusing to observe. To summarize, Lolcows who become boring cannot be lolcows in a present tense, as there are no laughs or fun to be had in watching them anymore.

Though threads themselves cannot truly be lolcows, I check in on this thread and several others sometimes for a similar kind of humorous observation type of reason. You don't exclusively need a "lolcow" present to find a similar form of observational comedy, but this does not in itself make the "lolcow" as a concept any less worthwhile.
The concept of "lolcow" in general is simplistic and far reaching enough that if you try lumping it all as one singular thing, it ends up getting lost in the boiling pot of shit that is current year. If you view things on a more case by case basis, and don't sweat the internet funny people stuff too much, you will very likely find something eventually! Just don't become obsessive, because that's how boredom inevitably hits.
