Sending Prayers, The Catholics need a based Pope, they are too powerful to be mucking about with watering down The Faith

He has taken the name Leo XIV looking to emulate Leo XIII the "social justice" Pope.
That might not be a bad thing. Leo XIII was expressly Anti-Socualist/Marxist. Prevost does not appear to be an actual Communist. He seems to oppose the extremes of Marxism and unrestrained Capitalism.

He is or was the Archbishop of Boston. Which likely means he is very Anti-kid diddling. After the whole Cardinal Law scandal the Church has been careful about who they put in Boston.

He honestly seems very middle of the road. With a heavy emphasis on "Go slow to not break shit". He seeks greater involvement of women in the Church and expanded roles in lay governance. But is dead set against female Priests and Deacons. As an example.

The most interesting thing about him and his elevation is he is American. Which is something Vatican insiders have been claiming would never could never happen for all of the 20th and 21st century's. The Vatican long maintained the Papacy was a balance to American Hegemony. Now for the first time ever the Cardinals are steering into American Hegemony. And they did this during the Trump administration. What they are seeing of the current world worries them enough to seek shelter behind the walls of American Hegemony is itself worrying.

I will believe it when I see it. It's the Catholic Church, I wouldn't be surprised if the application form required to be Pope asks you "In a scale of 1 to 10, how much do you love migrants?".

Maybe I'm alone in this but when I see somoene express anti-LGBT+ views now I immediately get suspicious that they are trying to get on my good side or just popular points, the UK has been doing this a lot.
