how horrifying that a priest would advocate for tolerance, peace, and unity. you can say you disagree with the Bible, or with the idea that individual morality should dictate the laws of nations. but I don't see how posting positive messages appealing to grace and forgiveness makes him "anti-MAGA and WOKE". that's exactly what the Pope should be doing. he's not part of the US political system, who fucking cares if he doesn't agree with Trump's policies or whatever? who honestly thinks we need a fucking MAGA Pope? Loomer is cooked.

(The city he was in charge of, Chiclayo, is starting to party hard)
More than what happened when Obama was elected?
Not seeing either the tradtards or hyper progs celebrating much. Dude could be a wildcard. Could ban gays eternally and in the same day hyperaccelerate hispanic immigration to the US to make it more catholic.
Here’s what somebody on Discord said about the guy:

Also, there’s a whole thing about going from drastic changes to a by a book approach when it comes to popes, sort of like going from liberal to conservative and vise versa. Honestly, the most I’ve seen people do is just have a laugh that an American got elected pope. And from Chicago no less.

At worst, you can accuse it of not doing enough to push back on it, and direct particular flack at some denominations for trying to pander to a "modern audience" by kowtowing to it.

Yes, this is exactly what I accuse them of. I'm well aware of the Aisha shit with Islam (among other critiques I have of their religion), but in my part of the world it's the Church's flying Pride flags that I take issue with.

But that's firmly the culture directing the religion, not the other way around.

Then they're useless and not worthy of support. At least the Muslims (in the US anyway) stand for a nuclear family and less overall faggotry.

who honestly thinks we need a fucking MAGA Pope?
Not familiar with the US Politics General thread I take it.

Jesus didn't fund his own church, that was Peter.
Let me save you time, it will never be an argument you win. He will always think he knows the truth, you’ll just be delving into a spiral of increasing frustration until you possibly get a headache.

he's not part of the US political system, who fucking cares if he doesn't agree with Trump's policies or whatever?
There's a rather large difference between "doesn't agree with Trump" and "constantly tweets about how orange man is bad".

If anyone seriously believes the first ever Pope with a diagnosable case of TDS isn't immediately going to renounce everything he used to believe in to own orange man, they're dreaming.

Why do popes take a new name anyway? Is it a nod to the Simon/Peter thing?
Basically tradition. Same reason a monarch can choose a regnal name (Edward VIII was Prince David before he briefly became king, George VI was Prince Albert before he succeeded).

A Pope can choose to keep his baptismal name, but most choose to honor a predecessor. Benedict XVI honored the Pope during WWI who advocated for peace. John Paul I wanted to honor both his predecessors, with whom he worked, so he chose both names as a way to honor their legacies. If you go way back into Papal history you'll see Popes just using their original names.

This also means in theory you could get Pope Tyrone Jaqwarius Skorpio as well, but no one is that retarded.

Holy shit, I was expecting a nigger or ethnic pope. I suppose "American based in Peru" is close enough.
