Honestly, the media has been like this for a very long time because of the need for a 24/7 news cycle to support CNN et al. Back in the Obama days someone would go to the White House for coffee and the media would be all ‘RANDOM FAGGOT POISED TO BE OBAMA’S NEW BORDER CZAR’ yet something like 90% of their predictions were wrong or hyperbolic.
There is no punishment for betraying the GOP, America, or Trump. There is benefit for doing so -- embezzlement, kickbacks, speaking engagements, jobs for your worthless family members. Until there is a way to punish these people, tangible punishments that they would actually fear, they will keep doing it. There's no reason not to.
You should hear my Baby Boomer relatives on my paternal side - I've talked about it before, but the implication being I should be shipped off to die in Ukraine because they had one great grandparent who was Ukrainian when they're mostly Polish/Russian. They fell in line just because the man on the TV told them to and played with their heads/emotions - just like covid. Unfortunately I think people need to come to terms with the fact that there was a massive shift in American culture and politics are now all anyone cares about for the foreseeable future. Americans aren't capable of opening their mouths without some sort of political take coming out. Americans are no longer capable of making films or telling stories that aren't about real life politics because we live in a world where everyone's political ideology is under attack from all sides and this is exacerbated by social media and the news media showing you these people attacking your beliefs constantly. So when it comes time to make a statement where people can hear you whether that be in a movie or a book or a video game or even music it's always going to be about the creator's political ideology because they feel it needs to be defended and people should be influenced to agree.
I know where your coming from. I grew up around my elders. Its hard to see a loved one become diminished. And I agree jill is using him.
