The idea that evil is always inherent is nice and makes things a lot easier.

While I do believe people can change with effort, I'm beginning to learn throughout the years that some people's base personality can only be shifted to a certain point. Sometimes the bad traits are just lying in wait for the wrong situation.

I've known so many people now who I thought were genuinely changing for the better, then a situation or person would enter their life and those horrible traits would return yet again (aka they never really left). The Paul brothers are one good example. People kept giving them chances and believing they were gradually learning their lesson, but then the mask would slip and you'd realize they hadn't changed one bit. I'm seeing this happen in real life too. It's a sad reality but my hope for many people improving in the long term is slipping away.

Holy shit, that "Salami Lid" thing was one of the most embarrassing things I've ever seen. He was so excited to tell them about the funny TikTok he saw that he had to have one of the crew members describe the TikTok ("There's a container full of salami and the lid won't go on") and he's almost doubled over in laughter.

While that is fun to mock, I can understand the feeling of recognizing a meme that others don't and finding it funny. However, the difference is, once you realize the others don't get it, you move on so things don't get awkward. You don't try to explain the joke because you're the only one who saw the video.

A better example of what he could have done was made the reference, heard the camera man laugh, laugh along with him, then move on without bringing Max and Chad into it. You could even make a joke about how you two are the only ones lame enough to think a salami lid is funny (bringing everyone else in on this new joke at your expense). Ian really needs to get out more. I think even the dumbest person can improve their social skills with practice.
