He somehow loves to roleplay as a fan of the OG game while not getting what makes the OG game good and even worse, he's not even good at pretending being a fan. It might work on dents but anyone who played the game will be able to call his bullshit.

I've noticed that he seems to want to be an oldhead to literally everything and there are many different examples but recently when he was playing CS2 he first said "how do I aim down the sights?" and almost immediately followed it with "oh yeah this feels just like Counter Strike 1. I played it back in the day when it came out."

So he is an OG CS player who was there day one and can remember how the game felt that he hasn't played in 30 years and also doesn't know you only aim down sights with scoped weapons. It's like he wants to steal that valuable gamer valor.

It all makes perfect sense when you remember he's a narcissist and being this Elder Statesman of Gaming™ is part of the omnipotent mask that he's currently wearing. Like all other narcs he acts like he's an expert on things he just learned about 5 minutes ago and you can see this in his takes about life (or da hyooman condition as he calls it), society, fitness, movies, food and stuff like that. In the case of movies he used to pretend he was this great movie buff and with food he still pretends he is this experienced gourmand with an advanced palate (or palette as he calls it). The gaming mask is the one he puts on the most for obvious reasons.

Funny thing is, I've known about piggy for a while and I remember way back in the camcorder sub box spamming era he played a bunch of classic games from the PS1 and PS2, which is how we got TIHYDPs in the first place. His Grand Narrative for playing older games despite him doing the conveyor-belt-and-then-return-disc-to-Gamestop meta at the time was because he has been a robust fighting game player for more than a decade so he completely missed out on a lot of the classics from the 5th and 6th console gens and wanted to experience them for himself. But that was back then, now he's grown way more delusional because he's been doing this for more than a decade and a half so through sheer inertia he thinks he's this old and wisened gamer who has deep insight into not just games but the way the gaming industry works because he went to E3 13 years ago before everything turned lame and gay. That's why he fake fans and fake experts so much.

The craziest thing though is how he fundamentally misunderstands games and series that he's verifiably been playing a shitton of, personally I think that this is because he's genuinely low IQ and has at least one learning disability. Could also be because of the decades-long alcohol abuse pickling his brain. He's played soulslikes more than most people I know, yet he still forgets how to navigate menus and still thinks that the games have "delay" because he mashes like a motherfucker and doesn't understand that the games still have action queueing, which is pretty much a staple of soulslikes, or at least FromSoftware's soulslikes because other ones like Nioh actually have action and recovery cancelling as a major mechanic. His takes on fighting games I won't even get into because I could be writing 5 more paragraphs and I'd rather finish this gay effortpost ASAP because I wanna get back to gayming. According to TJGamebox he doesn't even know how to fucking play WWE Champions competently but coasts through just paypigging his way to victory. It reminded me of when his gacha accounts first got exposed and someone who played Marvel Future Fight said that Phail's account was whaled out and he did dumb shit, likening it to equipping magic gear to physical characters and vice versa in JRPGs.

I don't know if I ever want to be credited with the words "the player has been taught correctly". Metokur was right in 2016 when he said that Phil is that asshole developers use to playtest their games and constantly complain "this is too difficult, can't the vehiucle drive me, this is tough". And now we have markers everywhere (yellow paint especially) games are way easier and so on

Phil was complaining about E and R both being buttons you need to use to play the game 'I'm going to be honest, its going to be hard to do this (pressing R) , because... it's way to similar to E its like the same button'. He's such a professional gamer he seems unaware he can just rebind buttons if he wants but what an insane complaint to have, he can't press a button if its next to another button. He has no fine motor skills at all. He also can't walk in a straight line, he keeps veering off diagonally very frustrating gameplay.

Hexen and Heretic I will also consider kind of medieval Doom in their own right. Witch Haven 2 though definitely had a more Doom feel to it compared to the Hexen/Heretic. Way less puzzles and more ass kicking

To play devil's advocate he's played so many games he probably lacks the ability to sort it all. That said, if I played so much shit that I couldn't remember what I played I wouldn't be claiming to be anything close to an OG. At the most I'd let my team know that I'm washed and I'll need to be carried. But because this shit has been popular for decades Phil has to quickly claim "I was there, dood!" like the hipster he is.
