A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Because Labour hate telling them "no." No matter how bad what they are getting up to is. Go look up Jess Philips' last election in Birmingham, that woman was desperate to name exactly who were the groups that made it the most vicious campaign she had been in. And had she done so her career would have been over the second it left her mouth.
Exactly right, plus look at how George Galloway's Workers Party stole a lot of the Muslim votes from Labour.

Angela Rayner literally begging Muslims to not vote her out in Ashton-under-Lyne was both cringe and hilarious.

Oh dear, more lags to be set free because Prisons are too full (again!)

Diaspora Muslims only have loyalty to one thing, the Ummah. They will vote for any useful idiot party that will advance their needs. Most of the time it just happens to be Labour or which-ever Fabian scum they can find until getting enough numbers to run their own Islamist "Independents".

They've been locked in a civilisational war with the Christian West since the 600s and only leftists are dumb enough to think they've stopped.

Muslims have very famously used the left, namely socialists and communists as a way to get into power then discarded them multiple times and this is no different. Well besides that unlike 1988 Iran, they haven's started hanging them yet (we can only hope though).

Starmer declares the restart of the restart restarted.
The fact they're constantly talking about the next election means they're cycling back into full-time campaign mode. Makes sense, considering the party (and the government) is micromanaged by Starmer's election campaign manager, but it also primes people, especially MPs, to expect an election sooner rather than later. Expectations like that have a habit of becoming reality by sheer force of will. But we'll see.

Yeah, it's very strange, especially when he has been elected for 10 months. It makes me think that Morgan's contingency is to call a GE to prevent Labour dying, but prop up a new leader. There are 2 paths for Labour currently, they either call a GE and hope they survive, or wait 5 years and die. It is the same as what Sunak had to do.

Both scenarios are lose-lose because they would lose their majority to Muslim independents and Reform. He also has the issue of people voting to spite him because he is so hated. This is, oddly though all down to Starmer though, because he ousted the Corbynites, which made a ton leave or defect.

What a sorry bunch, Reeves is destroyed and Kendall is a fucking joke. I will say, whilst I don't believe Starmer at all, I think he will go after illegals now. If he pulls out the EU youth migration scheme proposal, then I might believe him. Him going into that after India especially is OMEGA retarded and the public will destroy him.

Britain has always been xenophobic. Why do you think the Japanese public has a similar response to migrants, too? I really want to see Blaire though his project is dead, he must be like the Pazuzu from the exorcist.

I wish we were 1% as racist as the Japanese. We're very similar island nations. Go to Japan, every advert has ethnic Japanese couples. They don't have this craven, apologetic attitude we do, even though they were on the "wrong" side in WW2.

I actually work with Japanese people on a daily basis. And while they like "us", I really think they're a bit mystified by what we're doing to our country. They are a bit inscrutible though.

Why would you even want Calais at this point considering its where all the would-be boat niggers are coming from?
Landing point to to carry out the invasion into the rest of France and restore the dual monarchy. The biggers (boat niggers) will keep coming unless we push all the way down to the Mediterranean, at which point we can start lobbing artillery in the general direction of Libya and Algeria to deter them. Once the French know our intent they'll invite us to rule a la Mary the 2nd and William the 3rd and the affair will be bloodless. Keir's got a plan — trust.

I admit this odd-based Kier is pretty fun. Streeting even admitted that migration has hurt the NHS hard and created issues. I think he might be is doing a sniff test and working on ousting his own cabinet. He has been contradicting Reeves a lot lately which makes me think we might be done with the dumb bitch finally!

Is it possible that the higher-ups like Sweeney are rebelling against Blair because they know immigration is one of our biggest issues? Low-key, the shortening in sentencing is actually clever because of the new policy in deporting offenders, meaning they take up fewer resources and are shipped away.

It does feel like there is a shift in policy happening as the cabinet look pissed.

Only deportation of millions of illegals will work. Then a total close of the borders to them. You get in if you’ve got very specific skills only. No more chain family migration either.
I genuinely do not believe any of them will do that. They will do whatever makes them look least bad but it will have zero effect. It’ll catch the odd Brit who wanted to bring their Australian wife over or something and that’s it.

There is a 0% chance of a general election before the end of this government's term and anyone suggesting there will be should be rainbow stickered to death.

1. Labour has a miracle majority and Starmer knows it, he's not going to call a GE to try and get more seats, because he knows he won't.

2. Labour MPs won't call for a GE because it'll risk them losing their seat, look what happened to their safe seat 'Red Wall' in 2019, it'd be a bloodbath.

Like it or not, this government will do anything it can to avoid any challenge to the status-quo until 2029, or until Rupert Lowe spitroasts the Reform vote with his alternative party. They might even be scared of Davey, the scuffed political atmosphere right now might be enough to let the Lib Dems finally move on from the Nick Clegg cuckening.

I agree. We can all hope for it to happen this summer if only for the comedic value but it's unlikely. The last a time a PM called a GE in an attempt to gain more seats she lost a majority — don't want a repeat of that. I'd only put an asterisk next to the 2nd point though, as it depends on the socialist/Corbynite Labour MPs not being wholly retarded. If in their internet bubbles they perceive calling a vote of no confidence is the best thing to do, I wouldn't underestimate their willingness to throw themselves under the bus because of 'principles' lmao.

If a GE were to happen early, I would put it sometime after July 2026 at the earliest. My entire reasoning for this is because MPs will only get the maximum severance pay after standing in Parliament for a minimum of two years.
MPs are also eligible for separate, "loss of office" payments - which are similar to traditional redundancy packages. These payments are higher for longer-serving MPs, while those who have served for less than two years are not eligible.

You Brit’s should shoot any of the illegal boats trying to cross. It’s cheap and you only have to do it a couple of times to let them know you’re serious.

Anyways this was an unexpected turn of events and very underrated in its entertainment value. Blue sky is melting down so hard right now lmao.
