Also, while I think having your character voiced is a good thing, who in their right mind wanted their palicos to talk? When I first saw it I had a reaction reminiscent to:
They created a problem: giving the palico major dialogue lines that you need to read and understand during fights to follow events of the story.
And then made a solution: letting players use english voiced palicos so you don't have to read subtitles while fighting and managing items.

The diva songs are a fun way to have everyone gather and mess around in the hub. I am surprised how many players actually still do this and congregate. These types of frivolous events are what made old MMO's special. People don't hang out anymore.

Indeed, I've always been drawn to ORPGs and the like (following the lineage of Phantasy Star Online) for that very reason - Monster Hunter World and Destiny 1 come to mind as recent(ish) examples for me.

Almost every post I've seen you make regarding MH makes it painfully clear you never played MH, either that or you got filtered by some basic bitch monster and never touched MH again. Quite literally:
Memories.webp
I remember when even the most basic monster were sort of scary. So if he is getting filtered by current day beginner monsters there is no hope for him. MH use to be as much skill based as it was knowledge based. Now it leans more towards skill as they want to cash in on the souls fandom (even though souls borrowed a lot from MH).

With all the mobility and new moves each weapon has gained in the new games the monsters don't feel threatening at all. Only the end game event monsters that are designed for the tiny amount of the player base that actually continues to play on as most players stop around high rank are actually fun as the story and high rank are the tutorial.

New video stirring up some discourse in the community. I do agree that base World was easy and World babies misremember its difficulty (As a World baby, Old Gens are actually more difficult thoughever).
Who is going to listen to over four and a half hour video stating the obvious, brevity is the soul of wit zoomers. Clearly he just wants money as more and more people are adopting the long winded pointless exercises in patience.

A comparison video would be far shorter and get the point across. Or you can do what most older MH players do, ask if they played the older games than if they say no disregard their opinion as that is all it is an opinion based on zero experience most likely parroting some cheating speedslayer.

It surprised me that it was getting traction based on that egregiously bloated runtime (and it being from a small channel) but it nonetheless seems to be making the rounds. I think YouTube rewards longer runtime now because over the years I’ve definitely noticed an uptick in vid length.

You see it with these faggoty commentary/reply channels like Mauler and PatricianTV. Long winded rants about how good thing good/bad thing bad. Hours upon hours of "dissecting" every trivial detail or talking point to own the haters/shills.

People want long form content they can put on in the background that tells them their opinion is right. That's all it is imo.

Definitely, though, back in the day, long form videos tended to be punished by the youtube algo (something to do with watch time?). Perhaps they switched from watch time percentage to a raw time which would favor longer vids? Also, I'm not opposed to long form critique, it's just that these reviewers tend to overly focus on minutiae and filler, oft repeating themselves.

Also, decided to A-rank those arena quests and goddamn they need to buff hammer's dmg (I had to play decently with the other weapons, but near perfectly with the hammer to squeak by with an A).

I found it pretty entertaining at one point, but after a while even I got tired of it. While I don't mind having my opinion "reaffirmed" (something that proves I'm not insane in thinking something is actually shit/good), I appreciate actual discussion rather than "My opinion is a statement and I'm correct" video #42069.

I've hit the point I realize I'm not even listening and just close the video. I never understood the appeal of superwide monitors but honestly at this point, having just one to avoid doom-watching on the side? I'd do it.

Essays have become plotline summary videos. Either that or super slow and quiet "I played monster hunter 1 at 29 and it changed my life.............." videos with 18 minutes of childhood trauma dumping. Granted, it sets the stage for the game and I'd rather hear someone falling in love with an old game than "new TES has body type 1/2? it over".

Sadly that's exactly why it's difficult to find these low-sub creators talk about a random game for 35 mins: Everyone is taking a stab at it. Especially MH I've watched a few of such videos on and it just becomes gameplay walkthroughs because they don't have much to talk about

Must be all those mean old Veterans chasing people away with their super toxic opinions like "games kinda easy and baren, innit".
Do people actually believe this? The old veterans... and I mean old aka people like me who still play the old games and on the fan servers were never toxic. When the game was niche were my best times. Never had a bad experience with other hunters we were always friendly, welcoming and ready to give advice as everyone of us had been at the bottom and knew what it felt like.

Hell a lot of the times we would make a room for newbies and just chatted in the hall helping people that were having trouble or did not understand the monster. I really miss those times as the new games and player base do not stick around and do not talk only caring about the grind.

It is actually upsetting that the new vets are a bunch of elitist pricks. That is not want MH and the monster hunter community is about. Though I guess this is how it goes game gets popular the old guard gets pushed out and replaced by people who never cared and just want to brag and post cheated times online.

For a game that sold 10 million copies in its first month, the player retention dropped through the floorboards and into the septic tank, my god.
GEEZ, maybe because the game has FUCK ALL CONTENT TO SPEAK OF!?

Its ironic its suffering from the same fate as dragons dogma 2 but unlike DD2, MHW will get support. It will just take awhile.

I was going to cope that the base game never has the best, most difficult, or grindy content, but you're just objectively correct. World had way better numbers the first few months after release as well.

I think you guys can do better than that.
Concurrent players comparison for first few months after release date.
World - Wilds - Rise
MHWorld.webp MHWilds.webp MHRise.webp

Pretty much the percentage drop off for these games are quite similar for first few months. The increase in few months later is just basically content update cycle.
But let compare to a superior game for true hardcore gamers and no normies allowed. Elden Ring.
Elden Ring.webp
Much less drop off than Wilds and retain much better average concurrent players than MH Wilds. Maybe MonHun series is actually overrated.

Achievement completion. Worlds - Wilds - Rise.

Obviously, Wilds is the easiest one. More people complete the story and dip a bit into post game (High rank tier armor crafting). Worlds and Rise are similar to each other.

Beautiful. And unsurprising that a dogshit-from-launch-and-beyond game undergoing a content drought (seriously that's retarded even from Crapcom) is bleeding players in the decade of our Flying Spaghetti Monster that is the 2020's, though I expect a Rise (hehe) in player count much later down the line.

I noticed this too, tourists who came from-at best-GU or-at worse-World thinking they're hot shit. Of all my years playing MH I rarely ever found people like this until World, such is the fate of niche series' that become less niche, more niggerfaggots of all sorts.
Its ironic its suffering from the same fate as dragons dogma 2
God what a sad outcome for DD2, its 24-hour peak is barely twice the 24-hour peak of DDDA. Can't say it's undeserved.
Even Rise had a ton of cosmetic endemic side-content. :(
Very few people in any game since the dawn of collectables in games give a fuck about collectables in games. All the average MHWilds fan cares about is causing an extinction event on the local wildlife violently, they're not going to care about causing an extinction event on the local wildlife by catching the smaller wildlife.
INB4 "I DO." Yeah, so do I, most people still don't give a shit.
