Thanks to the Windmill scene, post-punk is now considered cool. Much can be said about how the Windmill scene is a new synthesis resulting from the clash between the antithesis of punk and the thesis of progressive rock. The former was a coordinated attack on the latter, which was considered too intellectual and pretentious for the working classes, who were at risk of developing their own thoughts. In a sense, punk was akin to hip-hop: a degrading and revolting ideological subversion of music, an attempt to destroy its core ideals and eliminate the essence of our civilisation.
It is therefore interesting that prog won in the end, infecting the quintessential substance of punk to give birth to the Windmill synthesis.
Bands like Ugly, HMLTD, Eunuchs... are triumphs for the genre and humanity in general. They have created some of the most striking acts of this new golden age of music.
But Rectumsa will never understand any of this. She is a dumb whore who doesn't like music; she just likes the idea of presenting herself as someone who loves it.
In a sense, Rectumsa is punk: disgusting, insulting, anti-intellectual, degrading and primitive. But she pretends to be post-punk. Similarly, Rectumsa's male wife pretends to be some kind of New Sincerity adept, but is actually a tragic husk of a nihilistic, philosophical zombie.
They are both what they claim to be rebelling against.
