Let's start off with an easy one. Which Pokemon is this?
Next up... idk, some weird rabbit?
Got these two without a hassle. Rowlet really couldn't have been anything else, and the latter was obviously a seal, so it was just a question of what they sacrificed - seel's tongue and colour, Spheal's everything, or Popplio's clown nose. The latter fit the best, and it's a classic 'pokemon redesign' thing to just discard one of the pokemon's key identifying elements for no good reason.
With the freebies out of the way, I'm sure this one will be at least a bit harder to guess. Take a stab at assuming which species this creature belongs to...
...that it's a vullaby, somehow.
Failed this one, thought it was a staraptor. You know, authors, if you're gonna make a team mom out of a baby pokemon (and aesthetically Rufflet and Vullaby both count), just bite the bullet and evolve the damn thing - or at least age it up by incorporating details of the evolved form? This doesn't look even slightly like a vulture.
I thought smeargle, looking at the bushy tail and body shape, so wrong again. It says a lot when your art style sucks so much ass that monkeys look more like a dog misinterpreted as a cat.
For our first challenge, there's this... thing:
If you put this after the gyarados, I might have psyched myself out of the right answer - because that looks more like something else cosplaying as a fomantis. Still, I got it right, so that's another point for me.
Then, some kangaroo-looking thing:
I hate that I've become as good as I have at recognising eevees even
without their manes.
Eevee without the mane ain't worthy of the name.
Another challenge! Let's face it head-on. What in the world could this thing be?
I think this one is a lot easier than you thought. Mainly just because you go 'eldritch blue electricity monster' and that's basically just xurkitree.
Next up, a double whammy! These two are nothing like their base forms. If you recognize the setting, you might be able to discern what these are...
...an Alolan Marowak and a Salazzle.
I probably could have gotten the alolan marowak if I considered it first. Unfortunately, my first guess was that the one on the right was
Yveltal, so I got that wrong and checked beffore I really thought through marowak.
The even more than removing key features, this type of redesigner loves adding in busy shit from an entirely different concept that completely chokes out the original.
I overthought this one. I thought this was a baby-with-the-bathwater redraw of Dragonairs
'true' evolution, instead of dragonite (with the shell being a multiscale wing)
Does this person remember people are supposed to be able to
ride on Lap Ass?
If anyone looks at this and tells me they didn't think Vaporeon first, they're a fucking liar.
Now, the magnum opus. The peak. The absolute PINNACLE of stupid fucking fan creations that look nothing like the original form...
Yeah, I just gave up on this one.
BONUS: an unrelated design from the same designer as the rest of these. Can you guess which Pokemon this is supposed to be?
Fortunately, I didn't overthink this last one, I saw leaf ears and my gut did the rest.
