Practically any HOA-encumbered property in the country (about 30% of all housing, 75.5 million homeowners) generally has to beg permission from their faggot neighborhood overlords to paint their sheds.

HOAs should be banned and their proponents hanged in the streets.

HOAs vary tremendously depending on where you are.

Basically, the bluer the area, the more fucking insane they are, run by liberal cat ladies and their enablers.

You get to the places where the signs say "trump" and "ammo is expensive, there's no warning shot" and you get HOAs that basically blow snow and mow, and sometimes require you to be armed.

It's damn important to read the covenant BUT ALSO pay attention to the actual meetings of any HOA you might get entangled with.

The good news is people give so little shit about them it's not hard to take over the HOA board in many cases.

But in general, unless its just common maintenance or a literal country club, the dues are better spend elsewhere, or to get a better house.

Congress quarreling is something that has always happened but the Supreme Court and the modern judicial system ridiculousness is not something meant to happen by design. The almighty Marbury vs. Madison saw the Court go against the "Father of Constitution" to get the power of judicial review and nationwide injunctions are a relatively new tactic for partisan (primarily liberal activist) judges to stop the executive branch from doing something.

Without Judicial review, the Constitution has no force of law.

I wish we had an hoa here. My neighborhood isn't "bad" but it could be one day, would be better today if people didn't have too many cars for the size of their house and park all over the street, if people didn't have too many houses and rent those out, if people didn't throw couches and big shit on the curb they know damn well the trash men won't pick up and leave sitting, I don't know if people are doing airbnb or renting a room but I don't like the idea of that either, if people haven't repainted in 20 something years and their house looks like shit, if their garage door is busted off track forever looking like shit. And yes, keep up with the lawn too. Imo if one wants total freedom of their land/property move to the country, there are responsibilities that come with living in a neighborhood/city/proximity of others. Cmv.

Even in areas without an HOA the city will fine you if your lawn is unruly or you have tons of broken down shit making things look bad. At least some cities (the two Ive lived in)

They do here too but it has to be reported by someone first, be better if it never started in the first place. and the city doesn't really have rules about a lot of the other things like the 7 cars or shitty old paint. I get what you all are saying about rule-creep too but there's gotta be some better middle ground could be figured out

I can agree but more levels of bureaucracy is almost never the answer. And yes you're def right about people having to report, but there is always one person on the block who seems to be happy to do so. I'm not sure about your exact area, but houses that look derelict can also be reported to the city. If its just a matter of an ugly paint job or them parking in front of their house.. Thats just a suck it up and deal with it situation. I know my city wont allow you to park cars in your front yard only the drive way (back yard is ok). At most we get a few in the drive way and a few in front of their property.

If the existing rules were enforced properly I don't think you'd have as many issues.

"the system" is not uniform and you can literally just go buy land in missouri somewhere and never have to deal with anybody ever again.
