I actually read a book about it a few years ago, and the logic is similar to some stuff you see in Buddhism or Schopenhauer about how life is suffering, we're constantly "willing" for things and never satisfied, etc., and so it's immoral to create more life that will then also have to suffer. I couldn't help but feeling, though, that if someone truly believed that in their heart, they would just kill themselves. Otherwise why are you prolonging your own suffering if that's what you think life is?

I have an easier and cheaper time raising my child because my family is less individualistic and grandparents are always willing to babysit. The biggest expense with childcare is paying other adults to watch the baby and make sure they don't die. If your child has special needs or you're trying an alternative form of parenting, you're fucked essentially.
