Day 295 of Marvel declaring Spider-Gwen is in 616 for good now. "Please, please buy her new title, even though 'Ghost-Spider' is a stupid name, she sells merch we swear we can't lose her!"

KRC.webp

Who, legitimately, wanted this? Are there enough legit Spider-Gwen fans begging Marvel to keep her in 616? Also, it is hard not to notice that the Spider-Gwen comics don't run very long anyway so this just seems to be a direction straight to a dead-end for the character. As we have seen in comics, changes to the "status quo" are forever, until they aren't.
(Nothing in comics is forever - except what pisses off the fans the most.)

This is probably going to be of those series that's supposed to herald a big change to a character, and then it lasts 10 issues or so, just long enough to get a trade paperback or two out of it and then the team that works on the character's next title just ignore it and pretend the character's status quo didn't change at all.

"her very life is rewoven"

Wonder if they'll take this opportunity to de-age her and make her into Miles' girlfriend, attempting to capture the popularity of the Spiderverse animated films. I did like her character initially. Volume 1 of her book is good, but then in volume two the writer disappeared up his own ass and made the book into a miserable slog. They had her as part of a team of alternate reality Spider-Men, which I liked, though that series didn't last long.

Like Miles, it was an interesting idea for an alternate universe story. The problem is bringing Gwen into the main universe doesn't work because the premise is that she's an alternate version who got bitten instead of Peter. Miles can work as Peter's protege, though calling them both Spider-Man is still a dumb idea. Gwen would only work if they're weaving this into a story with Peter where they're both working through their guilt of letting the other die and coming to terms with it. And after that... what do you do with the character?

It's like they didn't learn what happened the first time. Gwen was meant to be Peter's wife but when MJ was introduced as part of a love triangle, she overshadowed Gwen with her personality and ended up being the better choice. Fans love her more, and Gwen was eventually killed off, which added to the story and allowed MJ to be there for Peter, cementing their relationship. If Gwen wasn't interesting enough to be Peter's love interest, what made them think she could be the lead of her own series?

Call me old fashioned but they could have paired Gwen with Flash or something instead of killing her off. I get why they did it but.....
As far as I know she's not been resurrected.

Because modern fans are all about the "fanfiction" stuff and not about actual stories.

Don't worry guys in case you disliked the idea of Gwen coming back your horror is now reality. The new Gwenpool series already brought her back or at least someone claiming to be her. She's running around killing people for some reason it's all kind of weird.

"See! The old Gwen is bad! That means Spider-Gwen is better than her! Please love her now."

If Iron Heart shitting on Iron Man didn't make people like her, turning original Gwen into a murderer probably won't make people suddenly start buying the Spider-Gwen book. Or whatever the fuck they're calling her now.

Does Marvel still stick by the story of Gwen being seduced by Norman Osborn (she was an underage teen too) and having two mutant children with him that grow up to hate Spiderman?

It was retconned. The entire thing was apparently a plot by Harry Osborn to fuck with Peter and Norman, taking DNA from Norman and Gwen to make twins, making Peter believe that Gwen cheated on him. Also, even in the original story Gwen wasn't underaged -- it happened during the middle of college, though the age gap was still beyond creepy and fucked up.

See, the messed up thing is that at this point, I don't even know if you're shit posting or if that actually happened. That's how messed up things are in comics.
The legitimate thing is:

But what I said is a shitpost version of the truth. Harry had Mysterio use his illusions to make Norman believe he fucked Gwen and fathered the twins. I don't know if it's specified just how he did it, because frankly I didn't read that shit, so maybe it was hypnosis, maybe holograms, or maybe he did put on a wig and let Norman fuck him up the ass.
The latter is the funniest option so that's what the Internet, curiously enough the Latin American Internet more than the rest, decided to run with.

Funny enough, the new Ultimate version of Gwen Stacy is part of the Mysterio Cabal (In this retooled universe is using magicks to fight against the Maker who altered the world) whom her father passed the role to her, and she faked her husband Harry Osborn's (!) death so that he can continue operating as a vigilante against the Maker's rule, as Batman The Green Goblin (!!)

The new Ultimate universe (never forget and keep special thanking Donny Cates, good on you) is like reading pre-SJW stories. Actually compelling stuff, and not beating you over the head to buy more product.

watch it all get hijacked as another Jonathan Hickman-related project gets co-opted by faggots.
