Nah, I think a lot of Synth fans have had it with his dishonest hypocrisy. Seems like the turbo haters are gone, but I doubt this will be his personal fan club anymore.
At the risk of sounding like a troll, it's not hypocrisy in the sense that he is putting on a persona to sell a message, it's sheer weakness, impotence and a lack of will. If anything he has been very honest about his flaws repeatedly. These are the same traits that make him the quintessential Doomer. I feel like everyone is just mad he didn't go hair trigger because that would have been funny, so they are poking him hoping he will still do something stupid yet (which he did, twice over).
Synth is a man who knows what needs to be done, who knows what is wrong with himself (and indeed with the world) but does not have the will to do anything about it (at least for an extended period). It's actually a pretty defining Doomer trait. You need a certain level of introspection to notice these things, to break free from ignorant bliss... but at the same time it's a whole other person who can reground themselves in stoicism after detaching from the rat race and falling through the cracks of society and I suspect a lot of the modern stoics are just putting on act anyway.
I would argue that all of this is perfectly in character and that this is what makes Synth feel genuine. He knows he should tell his audience porn is bad, so he does, but yet he puts up no illusions about giving up that fight a long time ago. He is the old man puffing reds while telling the kids not to start. He is the fat man who breaks down and drives to McDonalds at midnight and hates himself the next day. I would also argue that for a segment of the audience admitting this requires making admissions about themselves that are uncomfortable, so they lash out.
One segment (of his actual audience) wants him to be a miserable rage fueled avatar of incelabacy, to externalize everything and collapse into a pit of rage and self loathing, like 'Lonely Rusty Venture' from the other night's stream. This would be validating for them, comforting, it is their 5 minutes of hate, their weekly does of cope, misery loves company after all. The other segment wants to see him rehabilitated and released to the wild, they watch out of a morbid fascination because "there but by the grace of god go I".
It's like some fucking Peter Pan shit and Synth has to start getting his Lost Boys in line if he wants to tap Wendy's ass. He can either be king of the bucket with all the other crabs or he can get out on a pile of severed claws and half shells.
