i wish bungie nothing but failure with their endeavor

Wait wait, Bungie spun itself off of Activison/Blizzard to be "more free" then just let itself get bought by sony?

Also for the record Destiny is Borderlands with even worse writing.
Bungie is basically a parasite developer that sells out to companies, grifts them for money and then leaves to find the next host.

I can't decide if Bungie or Bioware is more pathetic.

They're both welfare queens, but for different reasons. Bioware hasn't had a hit since 2014, but Bungie has definitely burned more gross capital in the last 5 years than Bioware has in 10 via their disastrous live-service consultation.

Bioware at least still pretends to make games that made them successful and famous. Bungie just devolved into making live service slop, something that Halo nor any other game of theirs never was at the height of their success. They let Destiny define them as a studio, and this is the end result. At the very least, Bioware still tried to make a Dragon Age game right before it got shuttered(which with all the employee shuffling and layoffs it might as well have been).

Asked to name the biggest issue they found coming out of the Alpha, Ziegler rattled off a list of impossibly small issues. Hugely requested things like proximity chat and Solos were handwaved away and relegated to some possible future plan.
This is absolutely insane. It's one thing if you're already a big swinging dick in the genre to be so dismissive of what your fans want, but when you've not even launched a game people are already poised to hate you may as well an hero.
I don't care what anyone says I still think this art style looks cool and I wish someone would put it in a game I actually want to play.

At least Destiny lets you skip most of its shitty writing. Borderlands games have gotten progressively more obnoxious with making the joke that you have to sit through the endless shitty dialogue.

I fucking hate Borderlands, but at least I can boot any Borderlands title up today and play the beginning, middle and end of them.

I tried to restart Destiny 2 after a 5-year hiatus and the opening section was like a schizophrenic episode- you start on a space ship running from alien soldiers, then suddenly you're fighting completely different aliens alongside rastafarian alien allies... and then you're dumped into an empty field shooting holograms or ghosts or some shit.

I cannot conceive how Bungie expects to get any new D2 players when you've slapchopped up the opening hours of your game and don't even bother to make a new intro.

I bought Destiny 2 at launch and then returned to it maybe 5 years later (whenever the latest console generation started) and I couldn't believe they'd completely removed the campaign the game originally launched with.

The campaign was pretty shit, to be fair, but if I hadn't had a group of people who were already regulars in the game to tell me how things worked now I'd have been completely lost. I can't imagine how disorienting it would be going in blind. The closest I got was when I tried to return to Warframe after years of inactivity and all of a sudden it was an open-world game.

I like how a friend (who played Destiny 2 blind because it was free) described his feelings to me: "I have no idea why I am here or who these guys are but they seem friendly!"

He dropped the game shortly after because it was never explained and he got bored without context. No idea how Bungo ever intended to entice new players because this guy was as normie as one could get and they couldn't even keep his attention.

They don't. I'd take a guess that a single digit percent of players who actually completed the replacement for the red war campaign stuck around for more than a season. Paid D2 is already aids, I can't imagine how cancer the f2p experience is.

Oh BL2 and 3 are also terrible.
I've played all the Borderlands games, and Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is by far the worst when it comes to the unskippable TL;DR bullshit. Pretty much every mission in the game has an annoying pre-amble you're forced to sit through, but this one at the dock always sticks out to me:
Almost 6 fucking minutes from starting the quest til you actually get to shoot anything, and there is nothing you can do to speed it up because you need to wait for the excruciating dialogue to end before a prompt appears to advance the quest.

And what happens if you try to be a cheeki breeki and pick the bonus objective to set sail without doing the extra steps? You get instantly killed and forced to do them any way. But it's okay because the characters break the fourth wall and remark on how stupid it is, so that makes it really clever and funny.

I find it funny that Bungie failed at copying an artstyle where one of the main contributors worked on Scorn, which did a pretty great job of emulating Giger and Beksinski despite being made by like 20 Serbian dudes .

I also find it hilarious how Bungie does the same thing over and over again and people are still surprised
1: Start out independent, release a few great games, then shoot yourself in the foot (Myth 2 recall)
2: Spend an ungodly amount of time working on prototypes for a game (Halo)
3: Publisher buys them out forces them to stop fucking around and actually work
3: Fuck up the development cycle drastically on the follow up game to the point half the content has to be cut (Halo 2 and D2)
4: Publisher makes them not fuck it up for once
5: They leave their "ebil controlling publisher" to have "Freedom"
6: They fuck up massively and then scramble to another publisher in the hopes their fanbase will blame the publisher and not them.
7: Repeat
