Oh yeah the Golden Dome ABM missile shield deal got signed. Deployment will be done before end of term.
I hope the Golden Dome also contains plenty of those anti-drone directed energy weapons that I've started hearing about lately.
You can't shoot those down with a missile, but they can be just as big a threat.

The Saudis love Trump as one of their own. He is the prince's friend. Truly. Honestly good for stability in the ME. I listened to his speech twice today. I hope that the countries there grow with us, but nor under us. As friends, not master and slave.
I remember wayback Somebody Twitter posted that he warned off the guy who was supposed to get wacked at the las Vegas shooting. Completely alleged but man wouldn't that be something. If that's true they may have discreetly eliminated the actual shooters. Food for thought

@mlanguishi Lees chances of winning the war were not great but I will say there were two turning points that screwed him.

Number 1 was stonewall Jacksons death. That essentially lead to the defeat of Gettysburg because his troops were not used to Lee's leadership. Its been said one of General Lees biggest blunders was adding "If Practical" to his command to take the high ground. That's true, but the reality is he actually used this same phrase in an earlier campaign with his own troops to no error. Stonewalls men where not used to flexible orders. They needed firm and concrete direction. If stonewall had been there, there's a good chance the Confederates could have won.

Secondly, Lee should have sent his forces to lift the siege of Vicksburg instead of invading the North. It was a completely viable option that was suggesting by one cabinet member when Lee and Jefferson Davis were planning their next course of action at Richmond. Lifting the siege would have saved a large number of troops, prevented a significant loss of a major city/commercial hub and MOST importantly it might taken general Grant out of the war. He was in charge of the siege and if Lee moved against him, he wouldn't be in a good position to defend against an attack. Its my opinion that if you take out grant at this point, you have a significantly higher chance of winning or at least prolonging the war. (I can elaborate later but he was that crucial to Union victory.) Fortunately or unfortunately nobody listened to the one guy who suggested it, even when he insisted it was the only real option and demanded a 2nd vote on the matter. They trusted Joe Johnson to not sit on his ass and take his time getting to Vicksburg. The rest is history.

Charles Krauthammer is a fun conversation grenade. Beyond that, his retelling of how he broke his spine diving into a swimming pool and laying at the bottom, unable to move is really interesting stuff.
Ah now that brings back memories. He was a really good analyst and his death hit me as hard as Rush Limbaughs did. Very thoughtful and interesting man. A sort of political Christopher Reeves.

This is 100% unedited footage of the anti-Trump protest in the city of Asheville, NC over the weekend.

What immediately jumps out at you about the protestors?

There is zero chance that the Golden Dome as described will be fully deployed by the end of Trumps term.

It's not a political will thing, it's not a Trump thing. It's just not how things in this sector work.

Prove me wrong, I'd love us to have a modern functional missile defense network with modern integration, it's needed, but I don't believe it for a a fucking second that it can be accomplished in less then a decade, and that's honestly optimistic.

Yeah there's just no frigging way. It'll probably cost 3x what they say and take 3x as long like every other high tech thing, but this one's pretty needed. They 'say' we can probably stop a few NK missiles now, but I'd like to be able to stop 50-100. A full China/Russia style bombardment will never be plausible to even try to stop, but rogue states and future threats like Iran need to be dealt with.

I see liberals saying 'deterrence works' which is funny because they always used to say MAD wouldn't work. Then ABM wouldn't work. They mocked them all.

The problem with MAD is if they think they can't be traced or are suicidal it fails and that's getting more likely over time.

Trump said it will happen. So it shall. Oh ye of little faith.

Glass also isn't easily recyclable because the ability to do so [easily*] disappeared decades prior.

I don't understand why it's not easily recyclable anymore. Can you elaborate? I'm not arguing, I don't know anything about it really but caught that video above a few years ago and it seemed relatively straight forward.

Couldn't they theoretically use the construction of the golden dome to effectively militarize large swaths of the border? Like I imagine there is some legalese that would allow them to shoot intruders near such a high importance military operation or at least arrest and detain them. Plus it would give them an excuse to put more surveillance along the border.

Shut. Up. Think about what you're saying.

The Republicans were also the party, in Lincoln's day, of protectionism, traditional American religion (in the form of opposing Catholicism and Mormonism: Rum, Rebellion and Rome, the twin pillars of barbarism: slavery and polygamy), anti-immigration (not so much a policy, but the Know Nothings folded into them) and saber-rattling at Britain, the "Workshop of the World" and most threatening geopolitical rival at the moment. Contrasted against Democrats having similarly been the more religiously inclusive and pro-immigrant (endless sea of criminal, poor sectarian Irish) party.
The true heirs of Republicanism were the Paleoconservatives, but they were banished from polite political society in American by William F Buckley Jr, who was a Skull&Bones/CIA cocksucker hated by actual right-wingers. The John Birch Society was right and America won't have a solid Right Wing until the National Review and Buckley's legacy are thrown into the ash heap of history. As an aside, Trump is basically a social liberal Paleocon and one of the few people he's ever apologized to is Pat Buchanan.

interview with jake tapper about his role in covering up biden's decline

2 hours? Really? I was looking forward to this but I'll have to skim it. Looks like the actual Tapper part is around an hour and that's even too much of this.

ETA maybe I'll watch most of it actually, she gets pretty worked up 20min
