I just got this game a little bit ago, after years of basically ignoring it because it looked pozzed but mostly because I heard it played like shit. Maybe it's because I went in with no expectations whatsoever, but honestly I am really pleased with this game. I still haven't beaten it and I've been playing for around fifty hours now. I just started the Phantom Liberty plotline. It's definitely sitting in one of my Top 5 games already, and I haven't even beaten it. The combat isn't anything crazy but I think it serves the purpose, and has the unique twists with the quickhacks and all that. I really enjoy the story and most of the voice-acting overall and it's why I like it. Some of it is pozzed, I guess, but it isn't retarded like putting a nigger in Medieval Bohemia. I'd kind of expect degenerate shit in a corporate-run dystopia, especially considering the last ten years of shit.

I'd like to play the tabletop, since I heard that's what all of this is based on, but I never really got into any of that.

got many things right nearly 40 years ago
its not exactly crazy, looking down the barrel of the cold war and the logical conclusions of that you're going to assume economic depression from all the jobs lost because the government isn't investing in making sure it survives WW3, people trying to justify their jobs leading to more conflicts all over the world either from gay ops or terrorists getting new toys from the surplus of cold war stock, then there's the whole isolationism because we promised the only reason we joined NATO was to protect against a threat that is now dead
(makes you think why you dont see the same with China especially when China has shown genuine military ambition
its mostly because its not as in your face. japan was beating the US in shit people saw everywhere, radios and other electronics and the big one being cars. as far as americans are concerned they fucking invented cars, then japan did them better by the 1980s, along with "high tech" stuff. such as fax machines, plus tons of exports of culture. especially by the late 1980s you had anime and manga clubs popping up in high schools and the first generations of weebs, even before that japanese cinema was constantly talked about by film buffs to the point where you could be a fan of japan and not even bring up cartoons because shit like Kabuki theater and Kurosawa's films and other parts of their culture were being seen as true art by tastemakers at the time. its crazy for people to believe but there were legit dragon ball z fans in america before it even got dubbed, thats how huge japan's cultural exchange was, for fucks sake the Karate kid is literally iconic to the 1980s, as was TMNT. kids grew up with so much jap influence they probably didn't even realize it.

China meanwhile is very one sided, they get different edits of stuff like iron man 3 and media companies censor their products to avoid pissing them off but its not like every commercial break you're seeing an ad for a Chink company thats making something that beats the american competition. you don't have the film auteurs of today obsessed with China's films. your kids aren't going to be watching obvious chink exported cartoons the same way kids were watching robotech in the 1980s. not a single gen alpha is watching Teenage Mutant Triad Rabbits, the biggest film out isn't The Kung Fu Kid.

plus the whole Pearl Harbor thing means a lot of the older generation was fucking pissed about japan and it lead to a big "buy american" thing and even talking about japan being better at stuff pissed off conservatives so you can take a big guess why it popped up constantly in the west's media.

meanwhile up until covid even the left wasn't really OK with china because of their obvious and extreme cultural issues. a lot harder for a feminist to talk about china being better for women when the one child policy would contradict that, same with the death penalty for weed users, as well as media censoring itself so it can be exported there being another sore point for the left pre-2020. plus a big difference in immigrants, japan's students and immigrants in the 1970s/1980s really came off like they were hot shit whereas the chink's students and immigrants treat the US like its spring break and really let loose in a way that implies how fucking awful china is. everyone knows chinese and korean girls are whores, but even the most charismatic dudes in the 1980s had a harder time fucking japanese girls, look at weezer.

plus outside of the korean war which is never given that much respect, the US doesn't have much cultural relations vs Japan, at least it seems that way, people forget about the boxer rebellion. That was actually one of the funnier parts of the latest IP man, everyone called out how silly it would be for a white veteran to dislike chinese people but be super into japan and karate. like just the concept of chinese people being on people's radar enough to treat with any racism would have been a joke up until 2008. if you asked about chinese people in 2007, most people would think about Jackie chan and those marital arts films and the food but have no other frame of refence. like they were the reason we had so much cheap shit in stores thanks to outsourcing but nothing to get people riled up.

the chinese had a similar space to koreans or laotians where you were just groups that people mistook for the Japanese.

Beyond that Japan actually does have a long and beautiful tradition of being great warriors and won quite a few amazing wars and battles in the last quarter millennia. whereas China hasn't really gained territory in the last 250 years and up until 1949 was mainly losing wars and land.
Chinese firms like Tencent operate like ESG rackets. They’ll intervene if anti-CCP material is present in a video game. But Chinese propaganda will vilify Japan so if CDPR or any other developer wants to produce a new cyberpunk video game, making Japanese antagonists is more or less socially acceptable to Chinese investors. Honestly I’m shocked many gamers don’t point out how Beijing has infiltrated the largest entertainment industry over the last decade and used its economy to censor any anti China material in games.
that probably explains a lot too, but its hard to be afraid of a group that constantly makes sure no one treats them like a threat.

Surprisingly, the comments are quite based. The guy who uploaded it knew exactly what he was doing, too.

I just finished The Heist mission on PC and its like the intro to the game is truly a fucking slog, Ive played it before on Xbox, this is my second playthrough luckily I have the Act 2 savefile if i ever do a third playthrough, it is a good game once you get past that though

>not a single video of fleek tearing this piece of shit game down
for shame.
he even called out the animu secondaries that popped up defending this garbage, also i've yet to repair my pc that can run this game but is it true it's suffering from starfielditis where you can't play the game on a HDD or else it gets even more fucky wucky? what about pacifica? are they done with it?

but is it true it's suffering from starfielditis where you can't play the game on a HDD or else it gets even more fucky wucky
Na, its actually pretty playable. You'll just need to turn down crowd sizes. Its not like Starfield where it streams in literally everything at all times for no discernable reason to the point you'll get loading pauses just walking through the prologue mining base.

I remember people moaning about how they were bullshitted into buying an SSD for the PS3s and 360s and how it didn't improve anything noticeably.
because with 5 minutes of googling it would've shown both ps3 and ps4 have a gimped bus (HDD doesn't need more), a SSD improves hardly anything, and back then the price wasn't worth the 30% (if you were lucky) gain.

biggest gain is GT, and that only because it dumps lots of small files all over the drive so you can at least get rid of those constant seek times.

Another good one, not sure if posted already. I still refuse to believe anyone who likes this game isn't suffering from some sort of sunk cost fallacy.

For real, everyone who has any sense already condemned this game to its fate, but as soon as the anime dropped we got a bunch of people defending the game to high hell as well as people who largely ignored 2077 only to give it a try after the game became far more playable, which was also when said anime dropped. I've seen the same people who shit on the game besides the bugs 180 their opinion and claim it was never bad just buggy. The fact this game still managed 30k-40k average for this long is insane. Then again you see the average fan of this game and it's just weebs, coomers, and cyber-trannies.
a SSD improves hardly anything
FR, I tested it on both my SSD and my HDD and I saw little difference. Then again this was after 2.0, not sure how it would've compared on launch for my HDD but eh.

Economy: 7/10
Can't Purchase much - and stores inventory are capped by your level
Apartments and cars are available - expensive.
Excuse me what

Just pick up literally every weapon dropped by everyone you kill (doing the NCPD Police Scanner sidejobs speeds this up) and sell all of them at the Drop Points. You can make at least 100k eddies in no time

Combat is honestly really good in my opinion. I've played netrunner (pre-1.6 and post-2.0), generic assault rifle (pre 1.6 only), hack-and-slash katana, and am slowly playing through PL for the first time with a pistol build. Every style plays pretty differently and there's something for everyone. Speedy time-slowing katana ninja that never touches the ground is incredibly fun, netrunners used to be more fun when full stealth was viable but now you really need to hit endgame for it to work well so you end up playing a bunch of the game gimped, and I've been astonished how much fun a generic pistol build can be, just constantly popping slowmo headshots with revolvers (RIP revolver suppressors).

Chiraq sound like the perfect setting for a Cyberpunk Dystopia.
Don't be holding your breath. CDPR is fully on board with the woke agenda pushing so you can expect to be "educated" on why Chicago is a shithole, and if you think it's niggers being niggers, then you're in for a struggle session where you will be taught the correct opinion.

I have zero hope for either Cyberpunk 2 or Witcher 4.

I don't even want Witcher 4. Maybe it will be okay. But I would rather have more Witcher 3 addons or nothing. Nothing is pretty appealing.

With how secretive CDPR are and how the game barely mentions the location other than an ad, I sorta doubt that Pondsmith would be that clumsy when he describes it as "'feels like Chicago gone wrong".

I have zero hope for either Cyberpunk 2 or Witcher 4.
Same, Especially when CDPR lost their old talent working on the game.

In other Cyberpunk news, One of the talents is hinting something related.

Witcher 3 was a great ending to their little trilogy, some more episodic adventures with Geralt would be okay. I have absolutely zero interest in Ciri as a protagonist.

They should have just let us make our own Witcher, from our own school, and then you wouldn't be hamstrung by being a book character with a defined personality and morality.
