You can't in a way that makes sense, it's just transferring today's moral and philosophical questions into a universe where they don't fit, and wouldn't even be asked. The larger universe has the extreme modifications being considered shit like turning people into a alligators; lopping your cock off, getting a pair of bolt-ons, and getting a vocoder installed may as well be getting a haircut.

Harebrained Schemes isn't completely dead. They split off from Paradox this year, and just announced a new game called GRAFT which is funded by an Epic MegaGrant. I doubt they have enough remaining talent & resources to make another good Shadowrun game even if they could get their hands on the license again.

I think Microsoft owns the rights to the Shadowrun video games now, so they could have one of their studios make a new game. For a turn based game, they would probably have inXile or Obsidian do it since those studios have put out turn based games recently. I doubt Microsoft has plans to make another Shadowrun game. If they do I would bet they make another FPS similar to the 2007 game instead of a role playing game.

One of my greatest gaming wishes is a 2077-caliber Shadowrun game. I'd even settle for a total conversion for 2077.

It's actually consistent with the tabletop lore. Exotic implants (furry shit) reached the peak of their popularity in the 2030's and fizzled out by the 2050s.

There is an unamed Alligator hybrid guy in one of the NCPD map markers but as far as I know he's the only exotic in game.

There's also girl arguing with her father about getting Catgirl implants in Phantom Liberty that's pretty easy to miss since it's just a side npc convo.

Speaking of chrome, there's a weird lack of cosmetic cyberware in the game. For a while I thought maybe you'd unlock more or buy more, but nope. You only get what's available in the creation screen. Wouldn't be so bad if what we had was unique to V, but that's not the case either. And we also don't get access to the cool ass, full cyber arms you see so many generic NPCs wearing. If I wasn't PC-less atm, more cyberware(and tattoos) would be the first things I went for.

Main mission is engaging - but side quests range from amusing to annoying. And the side rewards are crap.

Aesthetics: 6/10
Unique environment and models. Not a 'model store flip'.
I see the 'beautiful at any size' police hit the game. There are some horrific 'ogres de las Americas' walking the streets of NC. Also ugly blends of black and asian.
The amount of garbage everywhere is ludicrous. Not even India or Pakistan would suffer this level of filth. The only time I get stuck on an item is a failed attempt to jump a garbage bag. I mean, we get the concept of dystopia - but everything has limits.
Metro rail is pretty cool.

HMI: 5/10
The default commands are awkward AF. Luckily - on PC that can (mostly) be fixed.
Still, understanding your loadout and what you want to sell/keep takes getting used to.
Not being able to Esc out of menus, drives me nuts.
Bad Design - all around.

Crafting: 2/10
Absolute shit. Makes Skyrim crafting look genius by comparison.

Mechanics: 8/10
Gunfights are awesome - truly enjoyable.
Netrunning is ok- better (and very similar) to Watch Dogs
Stealth- fun and doable. Insta-kills and stuffing bodies in dumpsters is cool.
Driving is fun - I need to tune sensitivity still.
Character progression tree is ok - not great. Free respecing is allowed, and needed due to the confusion over certain perks.

Economy: 7/10
Can't Purchase much - and stores inventory are capped by your level
Apartments and cars are available - expensive.

Media: Unskippable. 5/10
The cut scenes at the No Tell Motel are cringe AF. Really not needed. Or they need to be retooled.
I am always surprised at the Keanu scenes, when he appears. Very entertaining.
Radio stations are unengaging (at best)- compared to GTA. Most of the time the music is annoying.

Still - it's not as good as GTA. It tries, but falls flat.

If you know the lore, it was Morgan Blackhand and not Johnny Silverhand that was last seen fighting Adam Smasher, as Smasher had killed Johnny earlier, which is a massive clue that Silverhand is an unreliable narrator.

There’s also all sorts of inconsistencies with the timeline of Johnny remembering stuff prior to that.

Yeah that was one of the first ones I looked at. Im actually very impressed with the quality of a lot of the mods I saw for this game. But I ain't got a PC atm, so I'm stuck with what CDPR has done.

I’m hoping Blackhand is somehow alive (it’s hinted at in the lore) and in the next game. Mike Pondsmith based Blackhand on George Clooney, which would be interesting if he’s cast as him.

I only played the edition released in the late 80's. There wasn't much lore.

I also read Cyberpunk: No Coincidences novel that came out in 2023. It’s a novel set in the cyberpunk universe that expands on the lore of the blackwall and its canon. Highly recommend you read it.

That's been in the cards for a while now. The NUSA pulled off a pretty successful reconquest of a lot of lost territory during the Unification War that was only halted at the last minute by Arasaka intervening and forcing the Arvin Accords on the NUSA. Even in the 2020 lore it was clear that a lot of the "free states" were only free because they were backed by Arasaka, especially the part where Arasaka used Texas' penal system as a recruiting ground for special forces troopers. And with Arasaka booted out of North America in the aftermath of the Fourth Corporate War it was only a matter of time until the Feds got their shit together and ordered everyone to fall in line or else.

Naturally, Rosalind Meyers is pissed she was halted from finishing the job at the last minute, and she's the type to take that sort of thing very personally.

on top what others have said about their special snowflake status, for some reason they also envision cyberpunk as this socialist utopia where they can be as degenerate/free/beyond the norm without anyone "harassing" them for it and outright be accepted "for what they are".
that the reason people don't care is because everything is shit, most people live in poverty and everyone else is a literal wageslave gets conveniently ignored (and if they don't they still perceive themselves this super special protagonist fighting the system just like a shadowrunner!).
