Mega Rad Gun Thread

Watch out gun control MAC is coming for ya.

The vector is neat but after actually getting one, I wouldn't recommend it to others unless they care more about coolness than actual practicality. It really doesn't get the chance to shine in semi auto only, even if it is really neat. Mine doesn't seem to like light loaded ammo, so I recommend not cheaping out on your range food, or even going 9mm NATO for it; at the very least I would try a few different brands before committing to one.

I mostly got it for a fun gun and range toy. I'm pretty well set on "serious" guns. But if mine does prove to be reliable I'll set it up for home defense as well with quality optics and light. I'll probably do that even if it isn't that reliable, but I've heard good things about the newer Vectors. My buddy has one that he hasn't had any issues with as long as he feeds it hotter/heavier ammo.

FWIW, this stuff isn't new. I've been researching this stuff since last night, coincidentally. The NAS3 case tech has been around since ~2018, mostly in pistol calibers to start. It's actually pretty impressive. The claim is that with 5.56 you can get 3k fps out of a 10.5" barrel and 55gr projectile, which is pretty nuts. I've been trying to find some in stock to test, but no luck so far.

What is new here is specifically the 7.62x51mm shells.

The 92SB and F series have two bushings on the magazine release retained by a spring pushing them apart and into recesses in the magazine catch itself. i assume he's referring to those.

for small parts like this i generally just source the part itself or the entire pistol and disassemble it to blueprint the part to keep at as technical reference.
Yes, thank you for clearing that up. Also I was worried I might have to do that...
Best I can do on short notice.

...Unless I can make this work. Thank you for that, I've seen the bushings just never with a scale next to them. When I get these right or close enough to it I'll post them as STEPs or STLs.

Thinking of picking up a PTR 91 at some point. Specifically looking at the A3S model, even though it's a bit more expensive than the base GI model. I think it would be cool to get a reproduction wind correction table sticker for the stock and mock it up like a Swedish AK4.

I've been using mine for hunting for years now. Shoots really well, longest kill was at 220 yards but I've done target shooting at 600. Only bad thing I'd say is if you have small hands you might not be able to hit the safety without breaking your grip.

That's fair, just giving my personal experiences that I had. I only run 115 grain 9mm for several reasons, but a heavier grain might fix it; I won't pretend to be a firearms expert, but the gun seems to have a pretty stiff cycling mechanism and I think some of the extraction issues I had were due to the bolt not being cycled back far enough to function properly. I haven't had a lot of malfunctions with underloaded 115 grain, but it was enough to warn you since you mentioned purchasing ammo in bulk, as I had one casing not get extracted properly, and smash itself inside of the gun. Winchester White Box 115 grain FMJ, in case you were curious.

I had the unfortunate experience of buying a couple hundred 380 ACP Underwood Extreme Defenders for my S&W Bodyguard 2.0, only to discover that they don't feed reliably in the gun... Was definitely a bummer realizing that my Hertenberger Buscadero Ticondas were just shitty range ammo after spending that much money.

Does anyone know when we will know if the Hearing Protection Act and SHORT Act make it into the Big Beautiful Bill?
There's almost no momentum behind the SHORT Act as far as I can tell. There's talk that the Hearing Protection Act might get passed as a cucked version, where instead of suppressors being removed from the NFA, they're just going to remove the $200 tax and keep all the other regulations in place. I hope that's not the case, but Republicans never fail to disappoint when it comes to the 2A.

When? No idea. We may hear something about it by the end of this week. Don't forget to call your representative!

The better question is if. The HPA has an actual chance (i.e. 🌈nonzero🌈) to make it in some sort of intact state, by which I mean something more than just removing the $200 tax.
The SHORT act? Nahhhh. At least with the HPA you have the whole noise pollution angle, but the SHORT act is purely a principle-based amendment.

I still think that there's a pretty good chance some sort of loosening of SBR rules under Trump, just not inside of the BBB.

So the version currently in the BBB is actually tougher than the original as is doesn't only remove them from the NFA and GCA it prohibits states from putting taxes on them or requiring registration.

We'll just have to see how it goes.

Does the Beretta 3032 series still have problems with frames cracking, and does the 30X reboot have the same problem? From what I heard it occurs with a combination of double-action usage and non-specified .32 loads, but I'd like to know beforehand.

I don't know about the 30x but I recently obtained a 3032 Covert and it seems like it is slight beefed up and oddly a bit rough at the same time.
