S.T.A.L.K.E.R. (Stalker) Thread

Saw the banner on my steam library and as soon as I look at discussions page, it's all a trashfire about ludicrous textures and Ukraine war revisionism and shits all fucked up. I feel bad about the war and all, and even though I don't trust ziggers, I'm starting to get what the Russians with Attitude guys mean when they begin to shit on Ukrainians. Caring about this war at all increasingly feels like trying to intervene in a domestic fight between the two retarded brothers down the street.

All irrelevant Old World geopolitics aside, I immediately bought Tunguska and it's fucking great. In some ways, it's a better Stalker game than Stalker.

The war has been going on since 2014. It went hot again after Putin decided to launch an invasion which failed pretty quickly and turned into what it is now. I don't blame Ukranians for being autistic about this.
The only reason why this shit has been going on for so long is because everyone pisses themselves over nukes.

After doing some google searches I found other people complaining about the game and the blurriness of it. I read an article by some guy over at MSN talking about how it's some bug causing the game to be rendered at a lower resolution or something. I have no idea, but they should fix that shit. The guy said if you wanted a real remaster just go play Radiophobia. I downloaded that and stuck it on an SSD with all my other STALKER stand alone mods.

Through my Google searches I found kind of a fix for the blurriness. Turn off the anti-aliasing. You only have three options disabled FXAA and MLAA and the last two don't do much anyway. Disable it. Then go down to FSR and enable FSR and the FSR sharpening and set it to max. Also disable the screen space reflections and use HBAO for the SSAO option. Oddly enough this clears up the blur issue a bit. It still needs an official fix. I don't think it's supposed to be that way. They also need to add MSAA to the anti-aliasing option. I always just enabled the AA option in the Nvidia control panel when I played SoC.

I know there are other issues like they removed some Russian stuff and shit like that. There isn't much that can be done about that.

I installed Radiophobia. I walked out of the bunker Sidorovich is in and tried to walk into the village and people started shooting at me for nothing.

You've gotta read dialogue. They won't let you in at first. You get an initial quest from Sidor and you must complete that vefore being allowed in.

Hows the 3 day military operation going Ivan?
Bro I don't give a shit about either of these countries. It's horrible horrible war, and it's terrible things have gone this way. Russia is a vile shit hole country that has every problem we have in America times ten, and is clearly structurally imperialist. Ukraine is a vile east europoor shit hole with a million and one very good reasons for wanting self determination, but it's full of the same brand of greasy shit as Russia and it's on the ass end of europe and it's not my fucking problem. Im a fat american who was told that a fantastic classic game was being remade, only for the remake to be a slapdash grift, where the majority of the effort seemed to be spent cutting Stalin's ugly mug out of all the photos that, not 30 years ago, were so romantic and cool to these people. It's like if India put on a production of king henry IV, but cut out all references to nobility or England, because of colonialism or whatever. The Ukranians were fucking raped and genocided under Stalin way worse than Putin and yet they seemed to think it was all nostalgic and cool 30 years ago, but now Americans in particular have to give a shit about a bloody sectarian conflict between peoples who, broadly speaking, I would not trust around children and animals. I do not care.

Yeah I figured that out. I thought Radiophobia was a direct copy of the game. But it changes some things up a bit.

Radiophobia uses OGSE as its base, and if I recall the third version adds even more homebrew shit in with the ugly new OGSR functions and BAS guns. I would say just use Rammakens remaster mods, I think he made one for SoC? He ports the S2 models and remake the face models as well as he can without changing gameplay or balancing.

Fair enough, the pink triangle had me hollering from my LaZboy. It just came across to me from the steam discussion shitstorm, as if the entire existence of the enhanced edition had more to do with some kind of wartime culture war agitprop than just making a good game even better. And who needs McCarthy to give you a negative view of Russia, when more than 150 years of their own most famous authors have said repeatedly that they're a violent and demoralized nation of alcoholics ruled by Satan.

Anyway tunguska is way better than it looked on the store page. Much more like Roadside picnic, and it has everything Stalker did in it, yet somehow more refined.

If they're any good I plan on buying and playing them cause I prefer slop remasters to "uhhh play the 2009 original with 500 mods!", but still.
>NFT cucks
>Bad elden-ring tier hyped-up game
>Nobody bats an eye cause my beloved stalker
The selective favoritism in gaming is nuts.
I will say that Stalker Anomaly is free and requires no mods, nor even the original games to play.

I'm not very versed on slav lore, and was hoping you autists could help me understand the nuances of the censorship.

My understanding is:
>ukranians don't like the ussr
>ukranian devs see references to ussr
>removes because reeeee ussr
>ukranians have disassociated the ussr from a Chernobyl themed series because they got triggered over seeing the ussr

It feels an awful lot like when germans remove swastikas from Wolfenstein games. No consideration for context, just blind rage over the acknowledgment that history happened.

Is that a fair assessment, or am I missing deeper slav lore?

How easy is it to mod a pirated Stalker 2?
I wouldn't bother because the game is garbage. I wouldn't pirate it mod it or play it.

Stan me and Kenny don't give two shits about stupid ass Russians and Ukrainians.

I've seen retards using that as an argument on reddit and Steam; "do you also get mad when Germany censors the Wolfenstein games?", completely ignoring the fact that Germany only censors the games for themselves, not for the rest of the world.

Is that a fair assessment, or am I missing deeper slav lore?
That's a fair assessment. GSC re-released an 18-year-old game just so they could censor everything that slightly reminded them of the USSR/Russia.

When the entire point of the USSR is to show how the Zone is basically frozen in time, thus why it has all the Soviet aesthetic around. Which, again is funny because the Soviet aesthetic is still present in Stalker 2. While seems the Polish fags got pissy and removed it in the remasters, then again makes sense. The poles are niggers who are to this day are pissy that Western Ukraine was taken from them by Stalin and given to the Ukranians.
