Iran is in a pickle because they spent all the money Obama gave them on failed proxy groups and terrorist operations all throughout the Middle East and Central Asia. The end result is no tangible advantage anywhere and a bunch of pissed off neighbors who normally would not work together. Why do you think Israel and Saudi Arabia are working together now? There’s a reasonably good chance that a lot of the people in the GOP never really liked the full Neocon horseshit but played along because it was the only way to get something, anything, through. I’m not sure if Rubio is one of those people, but his awkwardness before all of this could be read as him playing a role he isn’t completely comfortable with.
