Im not sure what belief system you subscribe to but mine says ALL MEN were created in Gods own imagine. We all breath the same air, drik the same water, and live on the same planet, all men ARE our brothers. If it all felt easy and there was no struggle you would be in heaven but while we are here on earth its our duty to show empathy and love and compassion even when its not deserved, ESPECIALLY when its not deserved.

This does not mean limply or meekly submitting to the will of others but using measured strength to not allow yourself to not be cowed by those you disagree with but then when in a position of preeminence and strength over them, showing forgiveness and kindness as our Father in Heaven has given to us countless and 1 times.

The ideals of a human "unity" are noble but have a tendency to only work at a surface level. Do all cultures and religions have compatible beliefs? Can you truly relate to people who live thousands upon thousands of miles away from you? How many share your beliefs in such matters?

Forgiveness and kindness are good but are you willing to accept your principles will be used against you by nefarious individuals? The human mind has just as much a capacity for love as it does for hate. For every act like the one at Angoville-au-Plain there are events such as the Chenogne massacre (itself most likely inspired by the Malmedy massacre which saw German troops shoot unarmed American POWs) where an estimated 80 German prisoners of war were assembled in a field and shot by American troops by machine guns.
