I think this spoiled zoomer mentality Is exemplified in how many creators feel they have to include the donator’s name in a special thanks or “tier list” of contributors now so they can feel entitled bc everyone needs a participation trophy.

I actually agree with most of what you said.

I hate to be Ackchyually guy, but most Zoomers don’t really know how to pirate stuff. Most of them just don’t access something unless it’s handed to them. The “paypig” stuff comes from Sam (or whatever artist) putting out shitty art, and the paypigs just eating it up—doesn’t matter if it’s good or really, really bad!

But I think you’re mostly right. Would I pay for everything my favorite musician puts out? Probably not. Would I go to every concert of theirs that I could? Yeah, definitely.

I'd say a paypig is someone who purchases whatever or supports whatever a person or group does. You should see if whatever new thing they put out is actually good before you throw money at it.
I subscribed to the gumroad because the podcast was a consistent thing and was good work/drive listening, and the value I've gotten out of Sam and Nick's work is worth it to me. I didnt buy the recent runs of Sam's shirts because I didnt like the designs.
Paypig as a term is usually used to insult people who financially support something or someone you dont like.

Sam I like you and I know based on people who know you that you read posts on this website. Stop being a fucking jew. WP2 is overpriced as fuck. You can do with a few less shekles. Thiel is paying you very well for this. You don't need the money. Or did Jet spend it all on Galaxy Gas and gay shoes like he did for Bloodgames budget?

I have a more narrow definition of paypigging. A paypig is a person who spends an inordinate amount of money on non-tangible items such as superchats, tts, or gifts for players such as the fishtank smokes/roses/balls, simply to hear their name read, to develop name recognition with show members, and develop that parasocial relationship so that they feel like they're a part of the show.

Buying every t-shirt, album, and/or knick-knack a creator might sell doesn't count as paypigging, because the buyer receives a tangible item (eventually). Paypigging is strictly a matter of buying internet acknowledgement, without a tangible reward for the buyer.

Pretty sure Nick didn't invent house reviews.

They did this same shit last year when they accused one of the famous nigger streamers of copying them when they stuff they were copying themselves from Ice Poseidon.
 
I don't know which happened first with Bill Burr but either him getting with Nina or getting mad about Ant being racist on O&A was the beginning of him losing it. His podcast sealed the deal.
