Wendigoon Thread

Sam's detox was one of the better parts of the podcast version. Getting him through it was a team effort, with his parole officer overnighting him drugs and stuff to help, and it went into stuff he'd learned to cope with withdrawals over the years whenever he ran out and his dealer wasn't available

I remember enjoying this reasonably well but I don't remember much about it beyond water turning black, some maybe-aliens, and, obviously, the sun vanishes. I also think I stopped keeping up with it well before it was done so it'll be interesting to finally finish it (assuming it's finished lol)

Iirc the author trans'd out, changed the mc to a girl, started attention whoring and never really finished it.

I remembering liking it until it started meandering near the end with people chasing after the protagonist for his Twitter account, and him and his friends being captives at some military base and adopting some kid before taking down a spaceship with his magical darkwater blood.

I remember the Sun Vanished thing being pretty good for a while, but it always loses me around the time it's just suddenly some little girl there or something.

I remember keeping up with the Sun Vanished and enjoying it but stopped paying attention after the creator broke the immersion to make a black lives matter post, didn't know George Floyd was killed by aliens. But holy shit watching the episode now, it did not age well at all, Meat's jokes about the cans and Schrödinger's cat were the only thing that got me through it.

But would he be mad that Wendi is reading his story.

Nothing I hate more in life than smug sarcastic twitter trannies.

Actually wonder if post-pandemic TSV isn't supposed to be seen as some kind of transgender mass shooter allegory. I mean you have the dark water that's been shown to drive people mad, including the protagonist, but now suddenly it's actually the only way to kill the fash the strobes ultimately culminating in him committing a mass casualty suicide attack on an alien ship that does absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things as far as I can tell, and in the guy's death control over the account, and consequently mantle of protagonist / narrator, is handed over to the teenage girl. Kind of like Randy Stair... or something like that.

I dunno. Just a thought I had.

When it comes to this part I literally have no idea what your talking about. Can you be more specific? They're literally mocking the story by the end.
I was expecting something more like the heartbreak at the end of Deepwood, but the first 3/4ths of the story has little to grip you with that the final twist that it's shit just doesn't land in the same way. That's more a personal issue for me I think I've never finished borrasca 😅

I wonder how salty he is that they dropped his shit hard. They powered though Watching a Woman, Deepwoods, and even Ruin My Life. But his story was so dogshit they just stopped and said "we are done". Are there any other stories they dropped in the middle of it? I know there are a few where they are not interested in other parts, but I don't recall them just straight up not finishing the story.
adopting some kid a girlfriend
The addition of the 14-year-old Mary Sue that the author lives vicariously though is pretty sketchy. If he can get away with it, he would have absolutely had his MC and Nat hookup as some weird full circle AGP thing.

I think the closest was The Thing in the Basement. They finished Part 1 (which ends on a cliffhanger) but from the way they were talking about it during the episode it seemed like they were originally planning on doing the other parts as well, though probably in subsequent episodes

IIRC they were laffin and having a good time with The Thing in the Basement. One of those "so bad it's actually entertaining for all the wrong reasons" things.
I didn't watch The Sun Vanished but if they got to the middle of it and said "Yeah, that's a wrap can't take this shit anymore" it must have extremely fucking bad. Especially for Wendigoon and Meat Canyon who seem to try their hardest to not talk too negatively about stories/give a lot of wiggle room.
If the two seemingly most friendly guys on the internet can't even make it through my story I'd just hang it up and never write again.
Like Mr. Rogers calling you a terrible neighbor or something, you've gone too far if Creepcast is calling your writing unreadable.

I'm still not sure why they went the heroic sacrifice route when they...really didn't need to. The alien invasion or whatever was clearly shown to be way too large in scale for individual heroics like that to mean a damn thing in the grand scheme of things. Also, I forgot Nat was 14. Reading back, the author was pretty damn weird about her, with all these grown-ass men (Who simultaneously don't sound any older than 20) DMing some random 14 year old girl important military information on Twitter because she's somehow the only reliable source of info about what the hell's going on in the world and rushing off to go save her when she's in danger, even when she's blooding "a lot" while 500 miles away.

I can only assume they just didn't feel like even bothering to power through it, with Deepwoods and Ruin My Life at least being a spectacle with how over the top they were.
Actually, maybe it's good they killed the protagonist before he had them get together.

Wendi was having a good time but he had to talk Meat into finishing it (and Meat was the one who mostly made the call not to read the other parts but Wendi didn't put up too much of a fight). Entirely possible he was just putting an act on for the camera but he seemed to be having a really bad time lol. It's probably my favorite episode, just laughing along with Wendi at both the story and Meat's suffering

Haven't watched/listened to the new episode yet so I'll see if their reaction seems to be more genuinely hateful/bored/etc compared to how The Thing in the Basement went down. From the sounds of what people are saying it just got boring rather than good-bad. It could just be that since they (presumably) recorded these as a batch that Borrasca wore out their funny muscle and while this is good-bad it's not on the same level as 'rape empire' etc

This will sound out of left field but hear me out.
Way back in time, even before the Sun vanished from the sky, My Little Pony was a big thing. One aspect of the fandom that nobody talks bout these days after Tumblr ate shit are these little things called 'ask blogs', where the audience would ask questions to a character and kind of influence how the story of the blog went. Half art project, half community project, they weren't high quality but something about the audience interacting with the story itself as it was being written was a super popular concept, so I understand why Twitter ARGs are a big thing for people.
That kind of thing is fun, and while this one wasn't exactly good I get how if you were there following the updates and shitposting in the comments you'd look back at it fondly.
Overall, fun episode but meh story. The dude saying he was going to siphon gas and then his next post is about how he got his ass beat was pretty funny to me. Imagine it's the apocalypse and you run into like a three stripe white belt who really wanted to see if his bullshit standing armbar actually works. Not even Lord Humongous, just some random dude beating your ass in a K-mart parking lot lmao.
