I haven't been here in a while, mostly cause of this. There's just nothing fun or new really. I haven't even been playing HOI4 that much. Only recently came back to it and sticking to KR. At this point KR and its spin-offs are the only thing somewhat okay about this. TNO is a dead project. sorta like those Beyond Skyrim projects (was also in those threads and was another project I loved but saw it kill itself). Its painfully obvious that TNO as is is all its going to be. We should be thankful Panzer even realized it or else it would have been just a toozer mod. I can't even say what it is that fucks over modders than they're all ideas guys and don't do anything. Essentially I am blackpilled and KR is the only thing that is of worth. Any other funny drama I missed in the last two months or so anyone wanna share so I don't have to crawl back through the forum pages? Is Sootysoot still made for BBC?

Well there was the TFR gooner crisis, we discussed american political radicals, how to seize control of the institutions, and I am finishing work on Russia/USSR.

Sooty Soot was arrested for unknown reasons after east asian birth rates mysteriously doubled.
 
They promised brazil content as early as spring 2024 (around march or april).

What is even causing the delays? I know it's a volunteer project but even then the updates shouldn't take years to make.
Dev turnover, reworks and minigames. The first one is self-explanatory as is the fact that France and Moscow are still nowhere near done because they get rebooted every time the Germany lead dev sneezes. If you look at some of their teasers I don't think you need to have much experience with the game to tell you that a custom interface with hundreds of tabs will take more time to implement than just using vanilla mechanics like everyone else does. You can see this with other mods too: TFR gets France content out within months, Red Dusk recently finished all their British democratic routes in less time than TNO get their Britain demo out, and 2WRW seems to have solved their dev hell by simply removing all superfluous minigames.

Simply put: it doesn't take half a decade to release partial content for two routes in a country without conflicts unless you do things the TNO way.

What camper said and I also mentioned this many moons ago. The mini-games actively hinder TNO since there are so many of them and so many variables to account for and the ui. There are just so much and as the other guy said 2NDWRW had to remove a lot of the minigame bullshit to function as a mod again. Minigames were always retarded and ass. I remember the one dude who played Ukraine and there is a starvation minigame and if you don't do it correctly you get a -20 attrition debuff and org debuff and just die.

Honestly TNO should just focused on the proxy war and just that. None of this decisions or custom UI minigame bullshit. IMO the 60s should be focused on Africa entirely. Like really make it long and drawn out like the conflict is supposed to be that it would be a constant thing that players would face while they do their focus tree. That it feels like an actual forever war. America has to two front war it as they need to save the French and the South Africans. Then if the Germans and Japs do end up kicking out the Americans the wholesome socialist niggers want to kick out the whitey Germans so now the Japs and Germans are at war for the true struggle for Africa. Is this a perfect fix? No not at all. But at least its an idea and still makes and keeps HOI4 a war game.

By contrast the 70s should focus a bit on the Middle East but more so focus on Asia as a whole. I am firmly in the camp that each decade should be each continents "time" for proxy wars. 70s is Asia starting with the Philippines, then Indonesia, then India, finalizing with the third Sino-Japnese war.

80s should be the "final struggle" where whomever is losing the cold war gets stuff happening in their backyard. If America is losing its a bunch of proxies in South America and if the Germans and Japs succeed in making far right (and far left with the Japs) Latinx terrorists take over that should be the coffin for America. They can't even protect their own backyard and lost so much, the population and government just calls it quits and hunkers down. USSR collapse and Yugoslavia like collapse optional depending on what choices were made. Best ending for them at that point would be splendid isolation.

If Germany was on the backfoot at this time, they are dealing with a bunch of color revolutions. Think of stuff like the fall of the Berlin wall, how the Romanian killed their IRL commie dictator, etc. Essentially Germany is cracking on its grip in Europe and America and Japan are more than happy to support its demise. German collapses can have a bunch of stuff ranging from second German civil war, Germany actually going democratic, German authdems and becoming much like OTL Russia (think some mods even do this and even rename the untiy-pakt the CSTO), or even a commie state if you want a funni.

Japan not mentioned as the 70s and the Asian content is their last chance to make it or break it as a world power like Panzer planned. If they do survive as a world power still they will be fucking with Germany or USA depending on which one is weaker as read above. If they fail at keeping China or the rest of their sphere they will become a bit like OTL China mixed in with OTL Japan. They won't collapse but they are no longer a super power to project proxy wars. They just sell weeb shit and vidya like they historically did in the 80s opening up markets to Europe and America.

90s would be the clean up era. Of whoever is victorious in the cold war has to clean up any last stragglers of the old guys. Think of it like the Yugoslav wars being the death spasms of the cold war. Though got no ideas guy ideas for this.

Hypothetical 2000s would be back to the sandbox as the durqa durqas still do a 9/11 on whomever is the sole super power left making them go to the sand box and we just go back to our world and timeline all over again.

Now am I an ideas guy? Yes. Entirely. However at least its a plan. The modern TNO team, I don't think they even have an idea of what they want to do. They cut Romney despite hyping him up since he is an evil Republican. They keep changing ideas and leads that they can't stick to a vision. Remember that Red Italy content was supposed to have come out months ago? Also GoodWinSon feel free to use any of my idea guy ideas if it strikes your fancy.
 
Anyone else notice that all of the hoi games ai "improvment" mods just make the ai work with meta templates that aren't even good? like 9 inf + support arty + engineers and that's it, a good inf should have 2-4 arty and support AA.

I had an idea for a proxy war in Mexico that would see Japan funding and aiding the Zapatistas and certain cartels while America aids the government with Germany being a wild card that could do nothing, aid rival cartels to increase drug use in America, or funding Crillios to rebel as well with the fail state being America forced into launching a full scale invasion.

See even that shit is good! I could make a bare bones skeleton content and plot with no real in depth events but that is actually my problem. I can totally add that sorta stuff in from a programming perspective. I am just not as creative as I used to be and can't craft the TNO type stories. And to a certain degree I did like the narrative story telling its events had. It made it felt lived in. I think its events got a bad rap cause of the minigames being so annoying and tied to them sometimes. What was your idea for the Crillios or any leaders or was it just an idea you had at the moment?

I have zero clue for who the leaders would be but the gist of their faction would be fully ethnic Spaniards and Castizos seeking German support to be able to secede from the "racially mongrelized" Mexico, I forgot to mention this in my original post was that America can only invade if the Mexican government gets capitulated and its only choice is to take the L and accept a Japanese or German puppet on the border OR take the risks of fighting a war in their backyard since for this proxy war to trigger America needs to be losing the Cold War.
However one idea I did just come up with would be the German faction starting as the Crillios and having the SS wanting a narco state to funnel drugs into America as I've said before to destabilize it and the government itself wanting a Nazi puppet state at America's door with numerous pros and cons for both sides that the player would have to juggle.
 
I finished shared content for post-unification Russia! Content is a bit threadbare but it runs up until about ~1980. However, my code is designed to easily accommodate unique political content, so it should be pretty easy to slot in 2 years of politics down the road.

Market liberalism was considered "deprecated," but it is still used in-game anyway, so I decided to brush it up a bit.
There are still a few legacy bugs; I'm going to focus on working on those before I release to Steam.
As for content, I wanted to give Heydrich a post-victory path, as well as start working on the next 10 years of Germany content.
I'm aiming to give Speer and Bormann their own content for 1972–1982, and I also hope to give attention to "failure" paths at least, so Germany doesn't freeze up from AI stupidity.
To complement Germany, I've also coded unified Russia content, so Russia has more to do, and so that they can invade Germany, creating a fun challenge for both Russia and Germany.
The Balkans crisis will remain 1970s Heydrich-exclusive for now, but I intend to add it to Speer and Bormann as well. This will interfere with the Great Game minigame, but I intend to alter it anyway.
I've also designed parts of the Balkans crisis code so that it can be adapted for future Balkans content, whenever I get to that.
Overall, I want to focus on fleshing out Germany and Russia/USSR/Eurasia, and their bitter conflict. The sheer amount of Russia tags means that initially, a lot of Russia content will be shared, but long term I want the political paths to be unique at least.
I will move onto to China and Japan, focus on their 70s content, and code the 3rd Sino-Japanese war
For the steam release I am going to switch to a more formal version system. The current branch will be the "daily" branch and the one on steam will be the "stable" branch.
 
Also before I took my absence I remember this one bare bones toozer mod called Barbed Wire something. A what if niggers colonized Europe instead of racist YT bois doing it to niggers. Does anyone have the steam link to that? I know its bare bones and has nothing but I wanted to see it tozzers and its map.

I actually do recall when The Ugly American update dropped and the minigame ran horribly to the point where the entire game could only run on 5x speed. At first, I thought my processor couldn't handle it which was lucky for me because I was in the middle of upgrading it from an i5 to an i7. As I then realized after playing the mod and reading some messages on the TNO subreddit and Discord it wasn't my processor at all. Granted, it was eventually fixed but it just shows how quality control is hazy at best.
