I thought Russell had been excommunicated?
No, but he probably doesn't have a valid temple recommend. He could probably get it back if he knocked off the whoring.
He wasn't "de-fellowshipped" as they call it, but he's not a member in good standing, either.
He wasn't allowed to attend his adoptive sister's wedding (as it is in the Temple) but was allowed to attend the reception. He chose not to because they told him it was a no-plights zone.

This has been answered a few times in the main Greer thread. He wasn't "de-fellowshipped" as they call it, but he's not a member in good standing, either. He actually tried getting rent money from the local ward bishop when he was evicted last year. I don't think they ponied up though, so he's dropped his Mormon faith again.
There is disfellowshipping and excommunication.

He easily merits disfellowshipping with his open and unrepentant whoremongering. Excommunocation is arguable too with his restraining orders and ambitions to run brothels.

He most likely hasn't been disfellowshipped solely because he has not been an active LDS member in years and few people have contact with him. I suspect that was part of his motivation to move to Vegas. His reputation was shot with his local wards in Utah.

His litigiousness would also cause some problems.

Something that I just realized is that this means Greer not only had a master plan about how he was going to litigate this case. Witnesses such as his family and Steve Taylor, but that he didn't even bother to change his grand master plan to suit changing conditions.

He just imagines that the court will work a certain way and can't even adapt when something new happens.
Have you used satnavs from the times before omnipresent mobile Internet? These days, when you miss a turn, you'll seamlessly get a new decent route computed on Google's infinite servers within seconds. Back in the offline times however, when a satnav was a separate brick with a crappy embedded CPU, this wasn't really possible. After it managed to get you a route (which could take several minutes for longer journeys), and you messed up, it wouldn't really have the power to recalculate the entire thing quickly. Instead, it would try to get you back on the initial one - often it'd just tell you to "turn around", an instruction I think I've still yet to hear from a phone navigation app.

Anyway, this is how Greer operates - he's too stupid to carefully revisit and adjust his plans around a problem, so he simply throws a Motion To, At The Next Intersection, Turn Around at it. In the jurisdiction issue, quite literally so.

This doesn't work because Russ later admitted that he had a "falling out" with Steve the last time they talked years earlier, and assumed Steve was still mad. Even if Russ legitimately believed a proposed witness was still alive (without checking), he can not legitimately claim such a witness was "eager" to testify when their last interaction was an argument and cutting off contact.

But even if they hadn't fallen out, Greer believed that the basis for Steve's testimony was that he'd told him that kiwifarms was stalking him and it was making him miserable. That was it. He had nothing in the way of actual admissible evidence anyway. So it was pretty fucking obvious he was going to try and keep him concealed for as long as he possibly could while he ran up Null's costs.

I don't think they ponied up though, so he's dropped his Mormon faith again.

Like most sociopaths, Greer's only relationship with other people is based on what they can do for him. Will the church give me money? I'm a Mormon. Will they not give me money? Fuck those hateful bastards. Greer's only faith is getting him his penis sucked.

I was really surprised that they seemed to entertain the possibility of giving him money as a deposit on an apartment. He hadn't been a member or been attending services for many, many years at the point when he reached out. I believe he told them that he hadn't had the time to do so -- he'd been working too hard, doing 80 hours a week, working min wage, etc. But how much time does it take to attend a service once a week? And you KNOW he definitely hadn't been tithing. No way Russell is donating his hard earned whore money to the church of LDS.

Despite all of this, he seemed to come very close to getting some coin out of them. Fortunately, the bishop appeared to have done some due diligence and realized he was in the process of getting mugged off by a whoremongering scam artist.

Whereupon Russell did what he always does and gave them bad Google reviews because they refused to give him free money. What an utter fucking cunt he is. Completely shameless.

Greer wheels and deals on the streets like he does his lawsuits. He relies utterly on people not knowing who he is. Guaranteed the Bishop checked to see where he was last registered with a ward and spoke with people who knew him to get a better sense of who he was dealing with.

It's quite common to do background research as LDS welfare relies on knowing alot about the individual requesting help. If he gets someone nobody local knows, he is going to figure that out.

Greer is flipping out on Hardin, because this goblin needs relative anonymity to engage in his retardery. Hardin's investigations will certainly hinder his future plighting.

It's a testament to his perseverance that he hasn't given up despite the ROs and the constant noes. If only he applied himself to constructive outlets he may not be the dirty dummy we all love to hate.

At least Hardin seems to be taking all of this in stride or even finds some personal amusement from what is otherwise a frustrating case. He's definitely getting under Greer's skin and shitlips definitely hates him more than he ever did Skordas.
At this point, Russell's fury toward Hardin has grown to such proportions that I wouldn't be surprised if he conceived of Hardin as the central villain in his life even after this lawsuit is concluded.
the “john smith” character in russell’s book intended to represent skordas is cartoonishly “evil.” his introduction in the book is smith defending an alleged rapist by “bullying” a witness and winning the case.
I've wondered for a while if "Why I Sued A Bunch of Internet Weirdoes" will introduce John Smith's successor, John Doe/ Mr. "Buddy Boy" Stalker, or if John Smith will become a composite character of the two.

I suspect he'll lean into calling him "insane" and invent a scene of Naught visiting an asylum to find a lawyer as crazy as he is, and visiting Mr. Stalker, gagged and strapped to a dolly like Hannibal Lecter.
"I heard you're the most dangerous, psychotic, supposedly licensed attorney there is!"
"My last case was defending a pedophile against a 7 year old he raped, so I made sure to depose her, threaten to murder her family with an axe, and just so she'd believe me, I chopped off her thumb and ate it! She changed her testimony, and the case was dismissed. My client still molests children to this day!"
"I think you're just my kind of lawyer, Mr. Stalker! I've already used the dark web to raise hundreds of thousands in crypto funds with which I can pay you handsomely to fake a pro hac vice status so you can represent me from here against a genius paralegal named Russell Greer. Satan knows we'll never win if we play fair!"
"I'll be sure to depose all of his witnesses, including his whole family! MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHHAHAH!"
I have a feeling he will not want to risk going back into the ring with Hardship Hardin again.
I hope Hardin becomes the new Skordas, making sure to represent the other side of every case Russell's ever involved in going forward!

That would be the funniest thing ever. Greer sues some random person. The next entry on the docket is "Hardin, Matthew has applied for Pro Hac Vice in this court" Or, funnier still, Greer files in some court where Mr. Hardin is already admitted.

You could see the cloud from Greer's head exploding from space.

Huh, you must be talking about 90's era satnav systems. Even my old 2003 Garmin had auto re-routing if you missed an exit/turn/etc... It would only take a few seconds to do this. I used it many times (because I have the navigational capabilities of an anosmic, blind, retarded dog).

He probably talked the bishop out of it by plightsperging about whores.

Note: Rusty has literally claimed to have been excommunicated but that seems to have been a lie, given how he went crying to the church for assistance and they almost went for it.
AFAIK, excommunication does not preclude getting LDS welfare, but welfare does come with preconditions and requires effort to continue to get it. I'd think it was more likely that he tarded out when given a plan of action to improve his finances. He also probably balked when asked about his expenditures.

Just like with his lawsuits, Rusty is extremely lazy and "privacy conscious." I can see him ultimately refusing to go over his finances and refusing to change his spending habits. Those would be non-starters to any bishop.

Russhole is even now doing his best to resist court orders. Any requirement from a LDS bishop for him to adhere to any standards was bound to be ignored.

Maybe Nick Rekieta's early affinity torwards Rusty was due to Nick recognizing a fellow "ODD" adult man-baby. They're both on an equal legal skill level, imo. Rusty may have more court experience!

To keep in line with the thread and making the assumption he received LDS welfare, would any $$$ he received from the church count towards income? Or would that be considered a gift? Could Hardin even request and/or subpoena that information?

Excellent question. I do not know. Such dispersements are usually pretty private and cash disbursements are relatively rare. It is far more common for welfare to take the form of grocery and gas assistance, which are in kind 'payments.' Rent assistance would also be direct to landlord. I'd doubt Rusty would have received a single cent to his bank account.

They are also very temporary and based on individual needs. A single adult man going through plights is not likely to get as much as a family of 5 that is struggling due to lay offs, work reduction, or illness.

I could see welfare information furnished, but it'd probably need a subpoena or order.

Hrm. I'm shocked Russ hasn't tried that already to stop Hardin from doing the public information requests. He already submitted a hissy fit motion to stop it right now right now right now, so it's not like it's a huge leap of faith to think he'd stomp his feet even more.
Every threat to Hardin is an attempt to get The Hardship to back down. The problem is Russell can't be bothered to follow through. Maybe Russell genuinely doesn't know how to get Hardin disbarred or get his pro hac vice status revoked. Maybe he's scared that Hardin will retaliate in some way Russell hasn't thought of. Maybe getting Hardin disbarred cuts into brothel building time. Maybe it's all of the above.

In his google review of Mormonism, he claimed the elders quorum president was divinely inspired not to help him, while in the eviction proceedings, he says he was already on a payment plan for back rent, but fell behind on that, and the Bishop would've helped but the apartment demanded the full balance paid at once.

Reading between the lines, it seems the Bishop got approval for a couple months rent if it would get Russ back on his feet towards paying the rest down, but when the whole balance was demanded, the elders quorum president didn't approve that much higher amount and then it turned into the Bishop offering Russ a ride to the shelter

ALL of Russ's legal activities are to get the other side to "settle" and do what he actually wants - which is never whatever the legal suit is asking for.

Taylor Swift? A date.

Null? Thread removal.

He doesn't know how to actually prosecute and win a case, and is now tar-baby'd to this one. All he will do is pointlessly threaten Hardin and have nothing come of it.

Except the elders quorum president answers to the bishop...

Of course this presupposes that Russell was telling the truth just like he was about his eager witnesses. Or his mysterious investors.

If the ultimate denial was due to his past being exposed, I'd doubt he'd include that in his review. I think he was able to plightsplain his way to possible aid, but whatever the reason was rightfully found out to be a bunko artist. In fact, I like that he essentially claims that God told the elders quorum president to not help him. I highly doubt that man told Russell the why of any denial.

Here's hoping that God similarly inspires the judge and magistrate to rule against Rusy.

You almost have to admire Rusty's very modest low cunning. No matter how often he fails, he tries to plightsplain, lie, or bully to try and get his way.
