This is how most people think about psychiatric drugs. They've been sold as a panacea for like 30 years now because being told that they're meant to help you get well enough to deal with your issues (or meant to not be in active psychosis), isn't nearly as "sexy" a promise.Ian and Anisa are lazy and think SSRIs will drown out their bad habits and behaviors.
This fantasy of an instant fix is why every girl with a septum piercing is on dosages meant for horses. All the while the closest thing to therapy they get is "yassqweens" from their nonbinary-pop-psych-councillors who are fostering personality disorders so toxic at the end of it their "patients" are going to melt through the floor... Actually working through your issues would be work that's difficult to do when your rainbow haired "therapist" is as deep and insightful as an article from Cosmopolitan.
My favourite is the Anisas of the world however, NPD/BPD lunatics who taken them because they mistake the momentary pangs of guilt or shame for being the worst person in every room they enter as depression. There is no such thing as toxic shame when you're a lying manipulative backstabbing literal prostitute.
