The Sims Modding Community - "[Sims 4] Incest, Teen Romance, Babies For Everyone and more! UPDATED FOR 1.5.149.1020!"

None of these people have watched the episode of The Grand Tour where they try to bring fish from the coast inland in... Zimbabwe I think. Maybe Botswana.

What should be less than a days drive takes multiple days because what passes for roads outside of the "city" is full of mud and huge huge huge ruts.

When they finally get to the village it's made of, guess what? Mud huts and shacks.

I will say that the show did show that not everything in Africa is dust and mud and shacks. Many places in Africa are absolutely beautiful. But the stereotype is true too, as most are.
I just watched this episode again last night and was thinking the same thing.
Like, yes there are metropolitan areas all over, but what do people -really- think when they think about Africa? Zebras 100%, yellow savannah grass, mud huts.
Blame the American education system or media or whatever, but it is an iconic image.

Is the increase in degenerate material probably not just down to better graphics, a bigger playerbase, etc? I mean, Skyrim probably has a lot more sex mods than Morrowind, ya know?
Reigniting this cause I was pondering it in the shower.
I do think that this is true to some extent along with the general cultural shift towards porn being mainstream, but I think the bigger cause is just how sanitised 4 is even compared to 3.

As mentioned 3, while not outright containing mentions of graphic sex or murder, is still relatively edgy in some areas. Twinbrook comes to mind with its mob family and implied incest swamp people, although I think almost every world has interesting sims with just the right amount of struggle that they become memorable, legitimate characters (most of the store worlds are fucking dry save for Midnight Hollow so I wouldn't get on anyones ass for not remembering any Sunlit Tides families.)

Then I realised thats what was missing from 4. Misery, hardship, struggle. Who are the most memorable ORIGINAL families from 4? The Pancakes, who play into the opposites attract trope and therefore have implicit friction. Who else? Maybe the Vatores and Vlad, because people like vampires? 4 gets away with this by having less sims, so you're more likely to remember them, but if I asked you to describe the characters of the last 5 worlds without using their occupations, traits or identities, could you do it?

This is the part that actually annoys me about EA. They went too far trying to create an optimistic fantasy world and the end result is a bland Disneyland where all players want to do is spread filth all over it for fun. I don't even blame them, this is all you can do. The focus on reflecting the consumer within the media they consume has stripped any intelligence and wit away from The Sims.

This is sadder news, but TS4 modder SACRIFICIAL said that his mother passed away last week from cancer.

I believe he will get better from this tragedy with time, but hopefully this doesn't make him messed up in the head and show it IRL, like how SimTubers and Sims modders have become at times.

How much you willing to bet these aren't people who personally identify as this? White Coffee Girls on Twatter oftentimes find shit to get offended at and also in the process insist to us niggers that we need something to be offended at.

You're thinking of KinkyWorld by Onikiki, a mod thats since been deserted by her in favor of some shitty Unity Game she's making, this unfortunately was what inspired ColonelNutty to create DeviousDesires in the Sims 4.

I frequent the Sims 4 community a lot (trying to get into the Sims 2) and I have serious black fatigue just in that area alone. I'm not even going to get into the whining and general ratchet behavior. How do those people even stand seeing those uncanny valley extreme-alpha sims next to the cartoonish Maxis NPCs/townies? The art style shift would bug me way too much. I play with a cartoon-ish Maxis-mix style and even then I'm considering deleting all my alpha hairs. Oh, and speaking of hairs...these people can't optimize texture file size for shit. It's an issue notorious for alpha CC in general, but it's absolutely ridiculous in the black creator space. I downloaded a few hairs by a CC creator named "Kikovanity" and they're all several dozen to almost a hundred MB. I thought they'd contain like, well over a hundred swatches like what you'd see in Second Life conversions and I can just delete the many swatches that I don't want or use. But no, I looked in Sims 4 Studio, and it was only twenty. That means this bitch made every texture nearly 5 MB for a game that you spend the majority of the time zoomed out to overview lots and such. Oh, and it's stupidly high-poly as well. Yeah, fuck you too. But like I said, it's an issue with alpha CC in general. Here's another funny thing, Maxis-match is coming back in style, a bunch of alpha creators are making Maxis-match content to capitalize off of it. The kick is, these creators genuinely don't give a fuck or don't know that the main point of Maxis-match is to remain simple and optimized for game performance, so these retards are making relatively simple looking CC have the same stupidly high file texture sizes and poly counts just like their previous alpha work. But hey, their Blender renders look pretty, I guess.

The drama started when someone shared a build for their bayou custom neighborhood Toadville, called Fitzwillwright Plantation, back in February. For context, Toadville is a town inspired by Louisiana, and that person being an history buff, it features some lots inspired by real landmarks.
These are the types of people that cheered when they tore down statues of America's founding fathers in New York and replaced them with fat Shaniquas. They want to discard history while simultaneously claiming to still suffer because of it. Their opinions don't matter in the slightest, and I hope that creator keeps making historical builds. The little Nessie addition is cute.

Someone sent this is a sims group I am in, first of all, some can't read, that it is a mod (not that I condone what EA is doing anyways) secondly, if you don't like it, don't download it or make a mod like this yourself.
It looks like literally any village in Africa and has African stuff in it.
"Make Africuh in the Sims! Muh repreezuntashun!"
"Okay, I made Africa in the Sims."
"NOOOOOOO NOT LIKE THAT!"
Were these people wanting Wakanda or some shit? You can't just say "Gib me Africuh" then get upset when you get a generic depiction of it. That's like requesting ice cream from the store, then getting pissed when getting plain vanilla because you didn't specify what flavor you wanted. But then again, if the mod creator based it off of a specific tribe, they'd be bullied for something else, like getting one small detail inaccurate, I guarantee it. Nothing is ever enough with these people. Don't even bother trying to appease them.

Oh, and speaking of hairs...these people can't optimize texture file size for shit.
Black simmers are so fucking bad at making CC that I can't even be Diverse(tm) if I want to, because every single textured hair is a crunchy-ass mess with 300k polys and 8mb textures. I get that curly hair necessitates some detail, but motherfucker you do not need to individually model every single ringlet and braid.

I feel like another part of the problem here is that a lot of Sims players don't actually play with their sims; they make/upload pretty sims and houses, download pose packs to take pictures for tumblr, etc etc. There's nothing wrong with that in a vacuum, but it does create a weird culture where people will still get praised for making CC that looks pretty enough in screenshots while being absolutely garbage for a normal ingame experience. Poor optimization can't hurt you if you're making a slideshow anyway...

It's been like this for a longass time, too. I remember downloading TS2 hairs from The Booty only to find out they'd look good at exactly one camera angle (the rest of the angles would show off whatever broken texture/mesh the creator couldn't be bothered to fix).

How do those people even stand seeing those uncanny valley extreme-alpha sims next to the cartoonish Maxis NPCs/townies?
Most of them don't really play the game, oftentimes they will sit down, create a sim, build their house, take a few stylish screenshots of them, upload them everywhere, and then forget about that sim until they want to take more pictures of them. Then they move to the next sim, repeat, etc. There are some who go through the process of editing every single townie which baffles me how it doesn't tire them out. I always stuck with maxis match outside of the occasional alpha clothes that could fit with Maxis match.

And for the ones who want Wakanda, they can just go to Liberia or Haiti. Plenty of fun there. You cannot please these people no matter what.

I would always get so fucking mad at that as a kid. It'll look good in the front then when I looked at the back or the side, it would look fucked.

Anyone remember Xsims I think it was called? Some Asian sims2 CC site. The hairs and clothes were all gorgeous but were super ugly in gameplay. They were designed for taking in game pictures mostly. I just remembered downloading the entire catalog and trying to play with my game getting 3-5 frames per second.
XMsims? it's still up.
I used to download these too

A few days ago, someone posted on r/thesims to complain about the header of Zero's Patreon profile that read "Cry me a genderfluid river" as a taunt to some bitch whining about their infamous mod (I couldn't find the original tweet, and someone archived the Patreon with the original header a bunch of times but I can't bypass the pop-up message, great job!).

Then Zero wrote a response to this post (see here), which in turn provoked a new rant in the same subreddit, and updated the header with another message:

hopefully this doesn't make him messed up in the head

I think that ship sailed a long time ago.

How come Nouk's hairs are still some of the best when it comes to wavy/"ethnic" textures? Ancient, so lower polycounts, but they still hold pretty well.

Some of the first Sims 1 object mods I've downloaded were from there. Though I could nostalgia post about Sims CC for days. Like how all my favorite CC was shit like Simslice mods, Secret Society of Woobsha refrigerators that added custom food, Persimmon Grove farm mods, Around The Sims mods that added extra food to grill, all the OddSim mods like the computer that you could order stuff online, a teleporter item, a working water cooler, a working piggy bank or a Sim cloning machine, Simlogical's lockable doors, wardrobes that allowed you to change your outfit or those British bedroom segments with the folding single bed, C&C mods like the electric hob, cutting board, interesting toilet, A La Carte fridge, and all the other hacked objects they've had, some Pandora Sims stuff like the mobile phone, Somesimthings' Supersculpture and so much more. Sims 2 had less of those but still some bangers that are still on ModTheSims like the ZX Spectrum, essential oil burner, wood stove/oven, working ladders and so on.

Yes I was, and still am, a massive sucker for hacked objects. Shit that added completely new functionality to the game always got to me more than cool new furniture. And yes I did hoard a whole bunch of mods, and yes I still have them, including some that were/are lost media by now.

there's some sims 2 communities that share lost mods/cc, mostly on tumblr so you have to wade through the retardation, but if you have some cool shit that has been lost you could share it somewhere. There's still lots of cool mods being made for the sims 2, i love all the medieval mods from "Sun and Moon Star factory", you can do so much with this old game.

I would love to get these from you. I still love the Sims 1, but when I went trawling through the archives of old shit on archive.org I couldn't find any of the old hacked stuff I used to have and it sounds like you've got a bunch of stuff I didn't have. I know pescado from the Booty/more awesome than you, I bet he'd be willing to host them if you'd be interested in sharing them. I hate that so much from the old days has been lost, both TS1 and TS2. :(

The bigger issue will be wading through my CC folders and cataloging everything so that I'd know what's been completely lost to time and what's still around. Not to mention I have fucked with my Sims 1 CC and it's not all original files, I've packaged them into one file at one point, and I modified the metadata with some third party tool so it's not super clean. Also a good chunk of the websites I've mentioned are still around, so it's worth archiving them. Though I remember I used to be a member of a site called CTO Sims that archived a ton of Sims 1 content, but that went under alongside Simblesse Oblige that had a similar goal. I got a bunch of those from Pescado's PMBD as well so lol
