Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

If Star Wars had good owners they'd throw Sam Witwer into The Force Unleashed III video game, make it a proper return for character driven action games in gaming and find new ways to innovate it, fuck get Team Ninja involved and make all the new jedi and ranged stances like Nioh, make it a fun story with Starkiller as a sith stalker purging jedi and rebel scum and such and THEN re-introduce Kyle Katarn some way and other legacy characters worth giving a shit about, Rahm Kota and Kyle Katarn and Starkiller reform a small alliance and take on X and Y and Z. This sets up a proper Katarn saga followup that takes place after VI. Have him more involved overall in good roles like a new true speechless or a wisecrack bounty hunting badass.

Honestly in retrospect I can't blame Rian Johnson when Abrams literally gave him nothing to work with, and ending the first movie of a new trilogy on a cliffhanger was extremely stupid.
nah, TFA wasn't great but there were tons of ways he could've taken TLJ and instead he decided to make a movie that's 1/3 a boring slow speed chase where a retard gets 90% of her people killed, 1/3 a boring Mary sue not being trained a hermit acting out of character and morphs into a cringy quasi love between her and the pathetic secondary antagonist and 1/3 is dedicated to a side plot that could be cut out completely and goes nowhere and is only in the movie to make a halfhearted political message about war profiteering.

TFA could've been better and they should've had a broad story outlined before starting the trilogy instead of letting 2 faggots basically play the one word at a time story game with the biggest IP in the history of movies, but TLJ is a bad movie on it's own merits and 100% Johnson's fault.

Honestly, get rid of Starkiller and Force Unleashed and just finish the Darth Maul game they were going to make before Disney cancelled it. I'm not a fan of The Force Unleashed, and I feel like tacking Starkiller in the Maul game would be a disservice to Darth Maul, his character has seniority over that Starkiller fag and Maul has been fucked over in the Disney Star Wars enough already. The gameplay was already going to be very similar to Force Unleashed, what we saw of the game seemed really cool, and they can add all kinds of gameplay innovations into it that weren't even thought of when they were originally working on the game 15 years ago.

Even KOTOR did it better.

Also Star Wars Force Unleashed II's only issue was the short story and short playtime. The story was shit but very fun gameplay and sabers and costumes. I wanted more which sadly II got very rushed and clearly the devs needed more time to flesh out the levels like in I.

KOTOR would be on a whole different level. Andor's writers have yet to reach THAT level of complexity and thought.

Exactly. Force Unleashed was a fun experiment and quite frankly, a more realistic story of how the Rebels got together. Especially given how the Rebels in the proper OT canon didn't come from the scraps like Andor did. Most of them were upper-class yokels, or people who served upper-class yokels, who just needed the right "push" to rebel. And them seeing Vader get thrown through the window and the Emperor be forced to kiss the floor convinced them that yes, the Sith can be defeated, so they went to work.

Thought? "Sam Witwer says MAUL: SHADOW LORD" is a show about bad guys versus worse guys.”

Isn't this the same shit as the Boba Fett show or all those crappy Sony Spider Man villain movies, like fuck off. It would at least be interesting if the "worse guy" was Maul but they'd never do that.

Also who gives a shit about Maul doing heroics, they already showed that shit in Rebels and Clone Wars, its nothing new with Maul fighting worse people. Not to mention, Maul's story is already complete

At least with a show like Andor, it expands on a character that didn't have much prior and gives interesting side characters that have at least some investment. Hell even while shit, shows like Kenobi, Ahsoka, and Boba Fett all at least promised something interesting for people who were fans of those characters.

Maul already got enough time in the limelight with the cartoon shows, and again him fighting people worse than him isn't a new concept.

As a side note, it honestly feels annoying how every Star Wars side project always has a title that is just the character's name, just feels lazy.

I just hacked into Disney's servers and got a little bit of the script for the first episode of the Maul show!

**Maul easily kills two dozen Pyke spice dealers with his super cool double bladed lightsaber. As he breathes heavily, standing above the bodies the camera pans over to a hooded figure...**
**The hooded figure pulls her hood back to reveal it's Ahsoka Tano. She leans against a pillar and crosses her arms.**
AHSOKA: You're a bad guy, Maul, but those Pykes are worse. Want to team up and take them down?
MAUL: Of course, my Lady.
**Maul bows to Ahsoka and they both jump on Loth wolves and ride off to take down the Pyke Syndicate.**

Not sure if this is what you meant, but i don't want kyle katarn in disney canon at all. There's 0 chance they wouldn't cuck him. Most likely scenario is his first game sells extremely well becoming an instant classic, then the follow up involves him getting assraped and killed so a female protag can take his place.

I said "If star wars had good owners". No disney shit, for fans of the EU and fun.

Tom Cruise is a nutjob but by all accounts he was the one who wanted to make a by-the-numbers "base competence" action blockbuster and wouldn't budge from that. It is the most important mainstream film of the last ~5 years because it demonstrated that Hollywood can still make a competent mainstream movie if someone powerful enough in the industry is wholly dedicated to tardwrangling the production, and it made a mountain of money doing so
iirc Chris Jericho's band Fozzy has won more than one award basically just for being "some guys who make mid-grade 80s-ish metal" because there's not a lot of people doing that genre anymore
it would be really nice if "basic competence" wasn't laudable but you cheer the best horse, even if it's more a case of the other horses being literal cripples

Understood, i wasn't sure but that's why i said "not sure if this is what you meant". Did i really deserve a dumb? :((:_( If we're imagining a non disney buyout world i could make wishes all day long.

So let's do that.

I can't speak for everyone else and i don't know what the actual sales figures were like back then, but if i'm anything indicative of the average it's insane how much money lucasarts could have made if they just kept making shit.

I would have bought 20 jedi academy sequels... all in the same engine. Just make sets of 20 or so missions, story doesn't even need to be amazing or epic or anything, just policing the galaxy. I would have slurped up all kinds of slop they put out for 50 buck a pop no question about it.

Same goes for all those games actually, galactic battlegrounds, republic commando, galaxies, kotor style games, any of it man. If they had churned slop out I would have kept buying, as long as it was slop with that EU soul. The setting was just so much more enjoyable back then and they were willing to try things with the games. I was so excited to see them continue existing franchises, and also see what kind of new directions they would go in, then for some reason around 2008 they just stopped.... I was never a fan of force unleased because i don't care for jedi only games, and i heard the clone wars game was ass.

But damn we were eatin' good for those 15 years. Star Wars could have used its name to release dogshit but instead they released genuine classics across so many genres. What do we have under 10 years of disney? Dogshit.

Might as well share my ranking too. Jedi Outcast is the greatest game of all time, no modern team could ever make a game that fun again.
What they took from us.webp

A Bounty Hunter sequel where you're Boba Fett, hunting bounties across the galaxy during the Empire's height of power.

An Empire of War sequel (official, not modded) where you play as Thrawn and the reborn Emperor Palpatine during the Thrawn campaign and Operation Shadow Hand, as well as Admiral Ackbar during the Crimson Empire and Yuuzhan Vong War eras.

A Republic Commando sequel where you, as Sev, rescue your brothers from the Empire, and undertake missions from the early Rebel leaders like Bail Organa and Mon Mothma.

The next planned Rogue Squadron game, Dark Squadron, where you play as Darth Vader.

The next Jedi Knight game after Jedi Academy, which takes place during the Yuuzhan Vong invasion and the Second Galactic Civil War, where you fight the Vong, the rebuilt Empire, Lumiya, and Darth Caedus.

A KOTOR prequel set during the Mandalorian Wars, where you play as Revan and the Exile. Or a KOTOR sequel where you're Valkorion and you rule the Sith Empire, squash a rebellion by the Dark Council, kick Revan's ass, conquer Zakuul, and claim its throne for yourself.

A Force Unleashed III game that ties up everything nicely so that we get what happened to Starkiller, Juno, and Rahm Kota before EPIV.

Another Jedi action game similar to the EP3 game, except this time, it has all the Jedi and Sith characters from the movies, with missions and characters like Sidious training under Plagueis, Maul assassinating people for Sidious, or Luke fighting against Vader, TWICE.

The Battlefront III we were all waiting for.

A Jedi Starfighter game that takes place during the height of the Clone Wars.

Galactic Battlegrounds III: which includes all the faction in the films, with a comprehensive campaign spanning Episodes 1-VI, as well as more missions during the New Republic Era.

So many missed opportunities. So many things that could have been. So many things that slipped by us.

Hopefully, once Star Wars enters public domain, someone remembers to make these.........

Something that's pissed me off for fucking ages is that we never got a classic Lucasarts Star Wars point and click adventure in the vein of Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis. Lucas arts in their 90s graphic adventure golden age were unstoppable for a while and a Star Wars game like that would have been a dream come true. Unfortunately I doubt anyone will ever make a fan made Star Wars game that looks and plays like IJFOA with the same level of game design and writing and takes place in the EU. Not an easy thing to accomplish.

It bothers me how much of a no brainer it would have been for LA to have made a SW graphic adventure, it would've been their highest selling point and click game.

You probably know about it but the Expanding Fronts mod is basically this. Absolutely monumental labor of love, has every EU character and faction you can imagines.

Agree with all of those btw though I always imagined Republic Commando 2 being about playing for the empire gunning down rebels.

Imagine a Thrawn game that uses that, and you have to figure out clues to solve mysteries or decode military plans.

Basically, yes. But imagine that as an official release, with more production budget, an improved engine, and cutscenes. Maybe even using Force Storm or Battle Meditation as an ability you can use.

That would be how it starts, but eventually, Sev, who has been recruited by the Rebels, gets the rest of the gang to defect.

Star Wars 1313 became a followup to Bounty Hunter and it would have progressed into the Episode V Boba Fett design, over the course of the game it was envisioned he would gain his green color and differentiate himself from Jango. It was more of an Uncharted clone but it had the ideas that the original had and would have used the amazing Euphoria physics system. So even if they decide to redo 1313 as a game they will never be able to match the amazing looking animation systems they had showcased.

A controversial take, I like both visions for the game. Boba only replaced the Rak Jaren guy you play as in the trailer and they were keeping the second "mentor" guy who cursed over comms and gave him a cooler design during the boba stage. You can find concept shit on Artstation.
