Nintendo Switch (Currently Plagued) - Here we shit post about the new Nintendo console, The Switch

Same exact sentiment here, from this day going onward, I am just going to be emulating their old games that I played throughout my childhood.
Don't just stop there, I guarentee there's many, many games you haven't played from back in the day. The past isn't exactly an escape, it's a well of new content waiting to be discovered. I'm running through FE4 on SNES now, still, as it's kept me occupied for months off and on. And Princess Crown on Sega Saturn finally got a full translation last month, so I want to play that soon to see how Vanillaware got their start. It looks beautiful.

If I wanted to download complete libraries of old Nintendo consoles where is the best place to look?
I go to Vimm's Lair first typically (Goytendo cracked down on them hard however). They have most of the emulators you need (outside of things like Citra 3DS). After that I'll try CDRomance. You can use Ziperto to get a lot more recent stuff like on the 3DS (with full DLC often included). After that, pretty much search online and you'll usually find what you want. If you get a Japanese exclusive, I use romhacking.net to find a translation patch which are usually available to varying degrees of quality. They even have an online patcher for the file if you need it, including DeltaPatcher for 3D games.

Vimm's lair used to be my go-to, what a cozy website before it got obliterated. Cdromance ain't bad but now their repo is locked behind their forum to keep it hidden from Nintendo.

You can still very easily download complete sets of roms on archive.org (for whatever reason) but if you want a curated library the retrogametalk repo, as retarded as they are, has a nearly complete english library as well as nearly every fan translation pre-patched. Take an evening and just go for it, you can get things set up, downloaded, and never think about it again.

it's annoying that I can't link to it because that is against the ruled but some dude called cdahmedeh has a "toproms" collection that is epic. a 200gb curated collection for systems prior to sixth gen and a 1.7tb collection including sixth gen,

If you really want a complete collection by No-Intro then you can get it but it will be massive in size and it will be difficult to sort through the crap to find the good stuff.

A four hour long video of a mumblemouth showing off a much more complete build of Harmony surfaced yesterday. Despite what he says, its definitely an early alpha, maybe twenty percent done. Despite this it looks a lot better than the OG Games ass demo level we were previously shown. Sort of a shame it didn't come out, I got Windwaker/Banjo Tooie vibes from it personally.

edit: For what its worth, I'd eat my hat if this wasn't an open secret for years now in the demo scene. Quite the coeinkidink that it shows up only after the Switch's successor gets announced, finally killing in totality any hope for these assets to ever be used.

edit 2: Nintendo took it down, unsurprisingly. Given that it was 4 days old I thought it might have been safe but nope. Too bad, as mumbles talking about the game and his shitty, draggy joy-cons the whole way through would be argued by most as transformative.

To whoever plays animal crossing new horizons,
New Leaf was quick to start and fun but new horizons' start feels so grindy and slow I have/can do better things with my time than wait for the game to begin and be patient and into it
how do you even chill out enough to start enjoying it? i wanna but fuck dude
I think the lil' villagers are cute to talk to but there's like 2 starting out and 1/4 of the villagers are disgusting to look at.

wait until you discover the villager trafficking ring that New Horizons had. I paid $5 for Raymond.

If you want to speed things up you'll need to time travel.

This game beggning is mindnumbing boring. KK takes almost one month to visit the city, which marks the end of the "tutorial." After that things open up and it feels like Animal Crossing again.

The other issue after the tedious start is that DLC for the game stopped way too quickly. I don't know the reason for it, whether it was too strenuous to develop around Covid at the time, but it felt like they left the game to die. Hopefully the inevitable Switch 2 game won't have this problem.

There was a item duplication glitch with that game... suppose still works if it installed fresh with no patches. I duplicated the hell out of the golden crown and sold it for a good buclk.
with that and time travel it made the game more manageable.
About the villagers.. you can get nfc files online with them... and record them on nfc tags (sold online)...

Not sure if there's a better thread for this, but posting it here since it was originally gonna be a Switch exclusive.

Anyone getting Fantasy Life i when it drops next week? I'm pretty excited for it. Looks like it addressed a lot of my issues with the first one

I'll just recommend NoPayStation for Vita games though the current incarnation of CDRomance is probably better unless you are playing your Vita games on a hacked Vita or VitaTV. (Still, even if you are using Vita3k don't overlook it, it might still be the best place for DLCs.)

Oh, and if you want a big pile of DOS games, Exodos is another great project. It's great for old FPS files to run in modern FPS engines.
