The system may just not know what the fuck to do with him. They probably weighed the cost of putting all those kids in foster care and how much worse it would make things for them. But it's at a point where the extended family really needs to take these kids in, even if it means splitting them up. I don't know how you see your grandkids/nieces/nephews in filth with their crackhead parents fucking another couple and think 'this is a situation they should return to'.

You must be a kind soul to have had any hope that he'd reform after his arrest. To many of us it was pretty clear well before then that his pattern of behavior is completely fixed to being a malicious, lying, obstinate asshole who worships himself as a god.

I think a lot of people were hoping (in vain) that the arrest would be a massive wakeup call for Nick. Not even for his sake, but for the sake of his children. In everything he said immediately after however, he's made it crystal clear that he doesn't actually believe he has done anything wrong.

It's clear now that under his care will never be the best place for his kids to be.
