Mega Rad Gun Thread

Proto-Mlok?
they were prototype lightweight URX accesory rails with the narrow profile (0.251") attachment slot. by a half year later, the CASV had more or less the slot as we know it today at 0.281" . it was otherwise an SR-15 with a unique dimpled barrel, a standard KAC IWS E3 ambi lower with triple tap compensator, and an H3 buffer as well as the other magpul parts.

Any bets on what happened?

+P+ 9mm fires out of a sub2000 with minimal issues, that being the receiver slamming back with disturbing force and the receiver being stuck in battery once. Kinda spooky. Never fired overpressured ammo before. Unless you count "bear load" 185gn .357's out of a 90's Taurus 608 to be more concerning.
I'm not doing it again so I'm unsure what to do with the extra underwood rounds other than pull them and see what kinda powder it uses. And what design the bullet is. I honestly would have expected them to crimp the case.
Dude please fucking don't. I had the charging handle on the Meth-Tec sub2000 shear off in the middle of firing underloaded Winchester White Box 115 grain, and I considered that a best case scenario failure. The gun isn't meant to run +p, let alone Bubba's pissing hot loads, and is frankly not a serious firearm. There are plenty of actually affordable 9mm carbines out there that can handle higher pressure rounds that are comparable price, or perhaps a bit more, that you should use if you want to dick around. Unless you have the piece of shit in a lead sled, with you pulling the trigger with a string, from behind a bullet resistant barrier, then you really shouldn't be fucking around like that.

I'm riding the dragon. Freeing the bird. Snorting lead acetate. God is calling me. And the nylon is weak.

I'll keep it under consideration. It's got five thousand ish rounds through it. No hairline cracks in the plastic as the other poster mentioned. Still keeps a dinner plate sized group at 100ish yds with 124gn round nose 4.2gn charge. Which I'm happy with. Otherwise I'm still figuring out a good load for my cz75 compact, going to be trying my next batch soon. Once I get accuracy down I might make a meat target (Paul Harrell PBUH) and see about it's penetration.

You must be Him. 100% Himalayan.

I thought the gun was solid until I had a catastrophic failure at the range, and mine was very accurate out of the box as well. I used to be a Kel-Tec fanboy, hence why I bought the thing. Do what you want, just warning you that the thing is a disaster waiting to happen.

I get a very somber feeling when looking across the old Wonder Nines. The Ruger P series, the STARs and S&W autos aged just like the cars from the time in that, yeah they work and they're cheap, but would you really use an '86 Chrysler Lebaron as a daily driver today?

no, but i happily use a P89. its a great gun. and indestructible.

yet it's not the P90 in God's own caliber. big shame, many such cases.

a Star Firestar is a nice nightstand gun for me when i go traveling. inexpensive enough to not worry about it if lost or confiscated, but 6 rounds of concealable .45 is great for my purposes. and between it and a Kahr PM9, i opt for the Star most of the time.

Yeah, there are plenty of unremarkable old guns that are plenty reliable and durable enough to bet your life on. The main problem with them is often lack of parts availability and the fact that you can carry a more modern gun that is the same size with way more capacity than old single stack steel. Nowhere is this more apparent than with today's 9mm subcompacts that make a G26 look oversized for only 11 rounds. I remember when my G26 was considered a lot of firepower in a small package.

It's expensive ammo. Sell it? Get a gun that won't eventually fail using it? Underwood makes good stuff, in my experience it chronos very consistently. I've run 9mm underwood +P+ in all of my compact and larger 9mm carry guns since I found out about it.

Reminds me of the Vietnam era silenced M16s, just more tubular.

And the fact that the scope covers most of the pic rail makes it reminiscent of the 656s.
