HOW is this still legal? WHY has there never been a massive lawsuit?
I'd say there are probably a multitude of reasons why legal action has been slow to catch on in this area.
- The patient has invested heavily in a "solution" and it's hard to admit you were wrong.
- The patient has given "informed consent" to the procedure and that may have been worded in such a way to forestall action.
- The trans "community" is not hugely appreciative of anyone shattering their delusions.
- The GRS practice community is small and they don't tend to speak out against each other, so not easy to get an "expert witness" to testify.
- The practice of GRS has been a massive money spinner and money generally speaks louder than individuals, although with the potential removal of insurance backed GRS, this may change the balance in the future.
