Final Fantasy XIV - Kiwi Free Company

Very grindy, but the CEs are good entertainment if you have a party to roll with. If you enjoyed Bozja you'll like this; If you didn't enjoy Bozja, it can be skipped. Fun lore tidbits about Nym/Mhach/Amdapor hiding further in I hear if you like that sort of thing.
Bozja is my favorite of the bunch, so if its similar then ill fit right in. Imma hit the new content with my buddy.

The fights in OC vary a lot in difficulty for me. For a lot I get hit once and realise what to do, for others (everything that has "Turn this shape in your head" is my personal hell) I struggle a lot with. Worst one is Extreme Prejudice for me.
Story is fine I guess. Glad that Forked Tower is not required for progress. Knowledge level raises fast, Phantom Jobs are an absolute pain. I'll probabl won't bother maxing them out. The system is also weirdly less intricate than Logograms were imo. Nothing that seems to change how you play by a lot. Kinda disappointed that we didn't get much in terms of new animations, they just recycle emotes or existing skill animations for the phantom skills.
Relic is faster outside of OC I think, since you can target which Anima you get by zone I assume. Doing FATE and CE in OC netted me 4 times the same anima piece. The steps after are just tome dumps again and the weapon maxes out at 745... that kinda sucks I have no idea why they are so anal about weapon iLevel. The raid is several months old by now, let people get weapons on another way.

OC seems fun to grind with friends while you hang out in voice, but I am not sure if I can get myself to grind everything out.

I went for a spin doing overworld FATEs when I only needed like two of a specific type
it guarantees which type you get since the type is tied to the zone, but the drop rate is fucking miserable, it's like 5% so you're gonna do a lot of them, I did 30-something fates in kozamauka and got a whole one atma from them

and yeah I agree they should be less stingy about ilv and actually let the relic be competitive when it comes out, but SE is practically married to their static content pipeline and they're completely terrified of changing up anything ever

I already have a tome weapon and I’d rather eat glass shards than do another Atma fate grind like the ARR relics so I think I’ll just sit this one out for now.

Ugh, I can already tell this is gonna be grim.
After working 2 shifts from 2 different jobs, I come home, turn on FFXIV and am faced with the clusterfuck of a system that I have to now learn and grind for a marginally better weapon and a story that I, for the time being, absolutely give 0 shits about. I did one critical engagement and I could already feel myself dozing off from utter exhaustion. Did my Mamool Ja dailies and then logged off and went to lay down because I have more work later.

I AM TOO EMPLOYED FOR THIS.
evidence!!.webp

Kiwbros what a fucking pain the Atma grind is. Got lucky today and got 7 but is so fucking draining, idk how can people the whole day on this shit.

Welcome to ARR. This shit was cancer 13 years ago and it's still cancer now.

Funny thing is that before the patch o was cotemplating doing a zodiac weapon(well aware of the steps) but fuck doing that for now. The arcane weapon step drained me of my desire of doing zodiac weapons for now.

Ehh.

A one time grind is fine. This is, what, Day 5?

ARR was miles worse.

That said, I got to be a fly on the wall for some really hilarious conversation earlier today. Bunch of neckbeards troons (this is XIV, I forgot) were griping about how the game should be more grindy and how casuals need to fuck off because it'd improve their enjoyment of the game.

I sort of agree, there could be a bit more dynamic gameplay. However, a quick check of dude's high end content cleared and 0 Ultimates, 0 Savage.

People in this game are so retarded.

How'd that work out for WoW?

That's such a braindead take. Why would anyone with half a brain alienate the majority playerbase of their game to cowtow and please a small, loud percentage? They stand to loose more if casuals left then if try hard sweats did.
It just sounds like they are looking for an excuse to get so invested and addicted to the game that it becomes their de facto coping mechanism for their shitty reality. If they have to spend so much time grinding and min maxing and doing endless fucking loops of content meant to keep them in a repetitive cycle to be able to function at all, instead of trying to dictate how a game should be molded around them and their personal wants, maybe they should just alt+f4 from life altogether instead. That's probably the healthier option if I'm being perfectly honest.

There seems to be some rumblings in the raider community that getting into Forked Tower is fairly hard for an organised group. Getting 48 people into one instance of Occult is hard enough after that you have to hope that none of the other people in there sign up for it since it is a lottery based system if more than 48 are signing up. I feel the developers are aware of that, so it seems that they want to actively discourage organised discord groups like that to run that, and that players have to communicate within the instance with each other.

I was lucky enough to get all but one Atma from just running CEs. The one missing I targeted by just doing a few fates in the DT zone it dropped from. It's not as bad as ARR Atma I think, after doing it once you are done and the next step is just 1500 tomes per weapon. Put into perspective how much longer the grind was in ARR... didn't you need to start out with a crafted weapon and slowly update it into a relic?

Is it weird that I never did any of the Atma/Zodiac/Gerolt weapon quests? Dunno, just never interested me.
