The left is physically incapable of not viewing everything through a political lens, and that's led to them becoming so unbelievably desperate to ensure everything they work on lines up with their own views.
I gotta be the devil's advocate in the thread, that message is absolutely in the original Lilo and Stitch. That scene on the night before Lilo's taken away, Nani holds her and sings Aloha ʻOe ("Farewell To You"), which is the song the last queen of Hawaii sang before America captured Hawaii. There's that mostly finished deleted scene too where the white tourists are all being obnoxious to Lilo, who pranks them with the tornado siren, and Lilo tells Cobra Bubbles that "if you lived here, you'd understand." You could even make something out of Lilo being bullied and belittled by the white girl in her hula class if you really wanted to reach. It's not like the entire movie's premise is "America BAD, Hawaii GOOD," but the colonization of Hawaii was absolutely a theme intentionally included in the movie.
...but it's not the
only theme in the movie, or the most important theme either. The big themes are the importance of family, being your weird self despite what people think, and knowing that you can change for the better. Then idk there are funny crossdressing aliens with Russian accents who listen to Elvis. Ta-da!!
The issue with the way leftoids talk about Lilo and Stitch (or ANY movie) is they haven't actually
watched the damn movie since they were kids! They saw it once or twice, grew up and read the same popular Tumblr posts and watched the same popular video essays, and now that all they care about are their liberal politics and practicing their ethics via media consumption, that's what they're focusing on. They don't care about the actual movie, they only care that the movie they remember positively can be justified. It has to have some kind of value or they're essentially forced to drop it, if it didn't Support The Cause they "wouldn't be allowed" to like it anymore (think like Ace Ventura or Harry Potter or whatever, other media they won't let themselves/others like because of the problematic elements.)
