Hello everyone, I no longer have reddit so I have nowhere else to ask for help on this.

I am trying to build a wither skull farm and it is going very poorly. This is my current work:
1748051286695.webp

The spawner currently produces no wither skeletons. I tried the roses to keep other mobs from spawning but recently discovered that wither skeletons only spawn on netherrack. Unfortunately when I replace the netherrack with nether brick a shitload of non-wither skeletons spawn, especially blazes who proceed to easily kill the golem I'm using as bait. The walls were effective at keeping magma cubes out but that's it.

I'm not really sure where to go from here; I have no idea how to make my farm design immune to other mobs spawning and if I have to slab even more nether or listening to yet another obnoxious youtube guide on a farm design that ends up not working I'm going to blow my fucking brains out. There has to be a way to do this without portal bullshit right? I'm completely at a loss.

I'm trying to think of a better block to use instead of repeaters there, but i'm coming up with a blank. Sorry, might be something to look into?
Why do you need skulls anyways?

Anybody here have recommendations for modpacks on 1.12.2 or earlier?
I like the autistic progression based shit like E2E
If you like autistic progression, then: FTB: Infinity Evolved, SevTech: Ages, GTNH, Nomifactory.
FTB: Infinity Evolved has expert mode too where to make stuff in one mod will require stuff from other mods. SevTech: Ages features somewhat different progression where instead you need to progress trough ages to unlock ores and recipes. Haven't played it much but might be worth checking out. If you don't mind turbo autism then try GTNH or Nomifactory, later having far more helpful quests for new players and generally having 3-5 times faster progression.

The farm needs to be built inside the crossroads of the Nether Fortress. On that specific spot, wither skeletons can spawn on almost any block. Then you can place blocks that let you plant wither roses.
Here's a Youtube thumbnail showing the bounding box of the crossroads:

You can also replace the iron golem with a piglin. Piglins automatically aggro wither skeletons and are ignored by other mobs.

Torn between two worlds in Minecraft, I really do like the additions that were made in recent years, specifically the mountains, caves, and ocean updates, but I dislike everything else. I started back in 1.3.5 or whatever the update was right before the redstone one, and going back to it gives such a sense of (perhaps gender) euphoria. There was a level of simplicity in the amount of mobs, the select amount of blocks one could use, and the terrain was something else (terrain gen mods like Tectonic just smooth everything out and so you don't get jagged hills that you can build keeps on top of).

I believe Minecraft is just symptomatic of something that has occurred across media. I remember when Notch had sold Minecraft and knew it really was the beginning of the end. It happened exactly the same in World of Warcraft where all vitality was snuffed out and replaced by "Sheboon Lives Matter" title sprawls and trans stuff everywhere. There will never be a new World of Warcraft, there will never be a new Minecraft (Notch is older and richer, he has no reason to make a Minecraft 2 and why would he?). It is the reign of quantity in videogames, not the reign of "indie quality" like people were talking about. Games are made by people who hate videogames, for people who hate videogames.

Also try Supersymmetry, very autistic modpack with pretty good early to mid game and a lot of planned expansion for late game.

P.S. welcome to the farms, based Gregposter
I played Supersymmetry recently and its lack of content really made me miss GTNH. Even if GTNH is CBT mod with absurd crafting recipes, it stomps everything else in terms of progression and cohesion of the package. Comparing to that, Supersymmetry and anything else feels like average modpack with random shit cobbled together.

I feel the same, somewhat. I started playing just before the world of color update, but I don't play anything before 1.13 because it just feels too limited. Modern Minecraft is bloated with a bunch of needless block variants and excessively detailed one trick pony mobs, but there are some good ideas. The aquatic and Nether updates were genuinely very good, tranny music notwithstanding.

My main world is stuck on 1.17. There are a lot of features that I'd love to have (deeper world, mud bricks, cherry and pale oak woods, happy ghast, farm animal variants) but I absolutely cannot stand the new worldgen. The large caves are nice but they should be much rarer than they currently are, the overworld's surface is filled with massive gaping crevasses because of them and it's hard to find a village that hasn't been levelled by the terrain. All terrain is mildly bumpy and hilly, biome borders are unnaturally smooth (especially noticeable on maps), and all rivers still spawn at exactly Y=62 so whenever a river intersects a taller biome you get these massive valleys that are a pain in the ass to traverse. I'd be willing to look past the bloat, but I don't want to ruin this world's terrain.

I'm planning on building one of those autistic Youtube-style megabases, and it will have a floor made out of purple and blue glass with a black wall, but I can't decide which blocks are better as the wall. What do you think?
