I mentioned it yesterday or maybe the day before, but Lindsey Graham is definitely one of the biggest problems. He is sabotaging all attempts to walk Ukraine back from destruction. Trump, stupidly is allowing this to happen. And when it all fails he will stab Trump in the back and blame him.

USA needs to immediately pull everything out of Ukraine and greater Europe and Graham needs to be prevented from leaving the country.

There is no good reason for him to be in Ukraine.

I used to think this but Ukraine has actually made me think the opposite. Granted there's very specific terrain there, and it's a war across a long front, but the amount of infantry combat we've seen is surprising,

it's not surprising it's because of that specific terrain plus the fact that both sides are not just not democracies, but despotisms that gain by military action even if it wastes population, and both states are considered fully sovereign by the international order, but the side that's getting stomped doesn't have treaty protections with a nuclear power. you're not going to get a similar result anywhere else because those conditions don't exist anywhere else.

I have a lot of respect for Elon but that respect has always started and ended with SpaceX. Now I can add DOGE to that as well but I honestly would rather Elon just stick with SpaceX and take care of business with that, it's his calling and what he's here to do. I was really worried about Elon getting distracted by politics when he should be focused on getting us back on the moon and to Mars.
I'd have gotten the dude who runs COSTCO to run DOGE instead. They manage to give good deals on merchandise, saving customers money, while STILL paying their workers a livable wage. Now that's what you call "efficiency".

Yeah, they are a conquered people. The Umayyad were overthrown by the Abbasids, a Persian-backed Arab coup, who were eventually destroyed by the Mongols, who converted to Islam and ruled the region for a while. Meanwhile, in the west the last remnants of the Umayyad fled to Iberia and established a kingdom-in-exile when overthrown. The western part of the former Caliphate fractured, but largely fell under Shia Arab rule. Then a Kurdish dynasty ruled, then a slave revolt of largely white slaves ruled and fended off the Mongols. Then the whole Middle East was conquered by Turks. Arabs at the point of the partition of the Middle East had ethnically been a conquered people for centuries even as their religion marched to the farthest ends of the earth, subject to foreign rule. Their big dream was to rebuild their civilization back to its glory days, that's why they allied with the British to revolt against the ailing Ottoman Empire, and that's what Ba'athism and the Hashemite princes were both trying to accomplish. Instead the Middle East was divvyed up into an international chessboard, one of the hearts of the former Arab empire was taken over by a bunch of Eastern European Jews, and when the Hashemites took issue with that the British basically forced them out of Arabia by funding a bunch of lunatics in the deep desert (the House of Saud). Funded by their vast oil wealth, the Islam of the Islamic State and Al Qaeda (Salafism/Wahhabism), which had previously been restricted to the backwater of Najd, spread throughout the entire Middle East through their patronage. The result has been endless barbarism, bloodshed, and civilizational backsliding. But that's geopolitics. It's happened to countless formerly great empires, cultures, and peoples. Strong powers divide the weak and set them against one another, forming buffers to protect their regional interests.
They conquered Old Byzantium, but its ways conquered them. Backstabbing, palace coups, and assassinations, as well as changing hands of power over and over again.

The Byzantines are laughing from beyond the grave considering what befell their Muslim conquerors.

I wonder how they managed to even expand out in the early caliphate days in the first place. Even with the exhausted empires they went up against surely they would've been not much at all?

Got IBS? 30 percent disability automatically.

VA apparently started reviewing claims though:

You know I always wondered about this shit. I know a bunch of people who get disability payments from being in the military and I always thought it was odd. None of them saw combat or were in combat roles, which I originally assumed was some sort of requirement. They all appear healthy and some do tons of fairly stressful physical activity. Guess now I know it is all a scam.

Some of them are straight presumptive and you don't need to to much to get them. I developed allergies in my life. Because I was in the army and spent years in the ME this is an automatic presumptive cause (lol). So they gave me 30% just for allergies. Because I have documented combat (lol) I got tinnitus at 10%. Like zero effort to do this and the Army walks you through how to do it a little on the way out the door.

The one at the bottom is because Sleep Apnea is heavily heavily abused and if you have the CPAP machine it's like guaranteed 50%. They are changing the regs just to stop how rampant that abuse was.

FWIW VA "Disability" is a lot closer to worker's insurance in how it functions. You are only disbarred from working if you have the TDIU thing he's talking about where you are penalized if you try and work. Civilian disability you aren't allowed to work at all.

Has anyone else in this thread experienced item shortages of any kind? Serious question, because by and large I have not and it deserves to be asked. The only thing I've noticed is shortages in home appliances and construction goods, but that's it.
Shortages in a lot of processed junk, like candy-flavored ice cream or Lunchables, as in the shelves with them are fairly barren, but not sure if that counts.

More like war fatigue. If the Persians and Greeks weren't distracted or exhausted, we wouldn't even know what Islam is. We'd just hear that some random barbarians from Arabia got wrecked by the Persians and Eastern Rome, and that would be the end of it. No Islamic expansion, just Zoroastrians and Orthodox Christians owning the East like it's their property.

Without the fall of Eastern Rome, the Holy Land would still be technically in Christian hands, which would've been an improvement compared to what happened in our reality.

I don't think that's the entire story, whatever the political aspects may be this is a full blown war. They're fighting, and that fighting has basically reverted back to WW2 era mixed unit engagements. I don't know a single person in any nation that predicted that.

We've learned:
-Drones ENHANCE infantry, more than they hinder it.
-Air and artillery dominance can help soften positions but it can't take them outright, and certainly can't hold them.
-Defensive AA networks are far better than we expected As long as used properly.
-Vehicle dominance is probably the thing most hindered by drones, we haven't seen any real large scale tank engagements.
-None of these are particularly good against urban warfare, infantry still dominates here.
-Precision weapons are great but not as easy to mass produce as artillery.

Everything matters but it's not as one sided as we assumed. It always seems to come down to a dude with a gun. Missiles run out, jets run out of fuel, drones are not infinity and they don't do great in woods or cities, tanks don't do well in cities trenches,

I think the main thing that sets ukraine apart is that it isn't being fought by gargantuan retards. Our assumption that war is all tech based from here on out came from the results of Iraq and the initial invasion of Afghanistan, and various other wars in the middle east and africa where the hierarchy was clear: Infantry<Vehicles<Helicopters<Jets. There was no fighting up this later. Turns out modern infantry weapons can do well to at the very least stall vehicles and air as long as they're in the hands of people who aren't completely retarded.

What remains to be seen is: are china and iran populated by retards like the middle east? Or competent people like ukraine/russia?
