This is going to end badly *sigh*

It will. I'm hoping, if not begging, that she realizes something is up once her wife's solutions aren't doing the trick early on, and begins to silence their suggestions before going to the doctor more. This fucking idiot is going to risk her life out of a false sense of ego, and pride rather to admit they don't know shit about medicine.

NEWS AND PATREON UPDATE!

Hey everyone, I'm back to work, with a new video on the way. It's on the second editing pass (there are 3, Audio+Major Edits, Video Editing, Music and Puppets) and should be finished by the end of the week, depending on how crash-happy Vegas is. It's about the rising trend of 'Playersexual" companions in RPGs.

However, there's also been updates and changes to the Patreon page. I've been posting more there, mostly WiPs and the other stuff I work on. Mikaila's art is posted to the Patron server as well. So l thought I'd take the time to advertise the Patreon again.

You can support me at https://www.patreon.com/c/cd_call. Rewards come in the following tiers.

*Basic Tier - $1*

This gives you access to most public posts that aren't reserved for other tiers. It also gives you access to the Patron Server, where Mikaila posts her Patreon content for my Patrons as well. The entire

"Writing and Vignettes" collection is available to Basic Tier patrons.

*Legacy Tier - $5* (Personal Recommendation)

This is the main tier. It gives early access to new videos and access to Patron-Exclusive content like the Hamtaro video and the upcoming BG2 Mods video. Any post being sold for $7.50 on the "shop" tab is given to Legacy Tier patrons for free.

*Cryptid Tier - $10*

This tier gets access to WIP scripts and edits and early access to Patron Exclusive content like the Hamtaro video and the upcoming BG2 Mods video. They also get the entire Madhouse Archive, which is otherwise sold for $15.

*Mythic and Goddess Tier $15/S30*

These tiers are for support. They're a holdover from Ye Olden Days when Patreon campaigns would have "buffer" tiers that didn't give any rewards (1, 3 and 5 dollar tiers giving the same, and new rewards starting at 10). In defiance of this I put the "just more support" tiers at the very end instead of in between the real tiers. Mythic Tier used to have an actual reward but it went unused so I stopped devoting time to it.

I often get asked "If I put all your videos on a playlist, would that support you?" And the unfortunate answer is that would take longer and support me far less than just being a Legacy Tier patron. $5 on Patreon is the equivalent of 1,000 views on Youtube.
Back to work.

Don’t watch her videos. Give her a fiver. She has to keep the missus tweaking on addies and filled with fried foods you know.

I will never get why does Peet continue to stream impromptu if that hasn't worked in the past. If they put a schedule and maybe give a heads-up then these streams would get some traction.

But the lack of consistency and how random it is just make this a pointless endeavor in the long run. Not like Peet would care, the motherfuckers has long but taken the small audience they got for granted.
More possible thread lurking, because she's now giving a heads up to stream Nier Automata in a couple hours.

Mikay talking candidly supercut.
-Mikay is taking Lily's adderall. Without a prescription. We do not know if she was prescribed addies in New York. Lily will take her through the same process she did, using the Telehealth service Maple to force a diagnosis and then go to her back street pharmacist to get her wife hooked.

More possible thread lurking, because she's now giving a heads up to stream Nier Automata in a couple hours.
She's going to find a way to insult weebs, isn't she?

A reminder that Lily claims to be a professional ghostwriter, but thinks that the above is what an "editing pass" refers to.

You can't expect her to know the terminology, she's a Psych major, not an English major!

This gives you access to most public posts that aren't reserved for other tiers. It also gives you access to the Patron Server, where Mikaila posts her Patreon content for my Patrons as well.

So she's also basically telling people that if they give HER money, they also get Mikaila's content. So it makes more sense to give their money to Lily. Not Mikaila. Just Lily.

Imagine paying 1$ dollar to read utter trash.
Not only that but a $15/30 tier. Who is spending that much on shitty opinions?
So she's also basically telling people that if they give HER money, they also get Mikaila's content. So it makes more sense to give their money to Lily. Not Mikaila. Just Lily.
That’s horrifying. Mikay keep your content separate. Or make your wife at least give out your work at the $5 tier and not $1. Good Lord, Mikay recognize financial abuse when you see it

No.

The way people make up brand new things to be mad about when they don't like someone is weird."This Youtuber makes sexual jokes while talking about animation! Minors could see this!"Minors are the primary audience for shows like South Park and Rick & Morty. Go fuck yourself.

No.
This is something I've noticed with how much Lily tries to defend her criticism of JRPGs by saying she enjoys stories in games. I don't think she's ever actually explained what it is about video game stories she likes, and why this non-Kingdom Hearts game is bad at storytelling other than "I don't like reading".

Also, given how often she draws and talks about lesbians doing it, I don't think her shaming people for liking sexy video game characters is a wise choice to make.
Lily, as much as you don't want to do it these days, people know you for your reviews of children's cartoons. The last cartoon you reviewed was an episode of Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur for God's sake.

No.

This is by no means an original thought, but I think it deserves to be reiterated after the Nier Attempt: Lily doesn't like any story that takes more than two sentences to sum up and/or have incestlesbians as the front and center. The only reason she likes BG is because of Incest Imoen and the only reason she likes KH is because she played it as a child. If you wiped her memory and told her to play KH as an adult, she would hate every moment of it and call it needlessly long and trite. She cries that these are the "best games ever made" but lacks the ability to ever discuss why they're the best ever made. Her description of them starts and ends with "they're amazing, trust me bro". That isn't the glowing praise of someone who genuinely has deep and meaningful thoughts to convey, it's the rambling of a child.

I haven't watched the stream, but I think I'm going to take a swing at summing their gameplay up: M'kay tries to not have too much visible fun with the action game while Lily complains and makes the same joke over and over again. M'kay parrots it all back because otherwise she's not getting dinner.

/kicks the door down

So what Lily's bitching about in that clip is that it takes '60 hours' to tell the story and that it should tell the story faster and get it over with. Given how she responds to something in the chat I think she's assuming that the 'New Game+' requirements of Automata re-tell the story multiple times when Automata is kind of famous for 2B's ass the fact that Route C completely flips the table and then kicks you in the balls. Narratively speaking.

Her point about '60 hours' is amusing to me for two reasons. One is that 60 hours is if you're trying to Platinum Automata. I don't know how long a strictly story playthrough, but it's probably closer to 20 if you aren't jetting between story points. The second is that she's a fan of Kingdom Hearts, a game that can also easily take 60+ hours to 100% and has cutscenes with some of the just... the worst cutscene pacing in a modern game, holy shit.

Lily then makes an equally amusing second point about how JRPGs need to learn about tropes that 'other games' have used for years and then doesn't actually explain what she's talking about, big shocker, but she's also saying it in reference to what a defender in the chat is saying about how Route C is completely different from A/B, so I don't know if she was just referring to the idea of playing multiple characters through the same story or what. Either way it dovetails into her completely missing a pretty important factor in Automata, in JRPGs, and in video games in general; the power of the medium.

Every medium has its own strengths and challenges when it comes to artwork and storytelling and video games are no exception. One of the reasons it's so damn hard to adapt even a cinematic game into a movie is because a game is not just told through its cutscenes; it's the interactive elements, it's the actual gameplay. Those 60 hours in Automata aren't like watching three seasons of a show; you're interacting with the world, you're talking to NPCs, you're fighting enemies and bosses, you're traveling. Same with any JRPG; same with almost any video game with a narrative structure.

Those silences between major story beats are part of the structure of the story. You might not appreciate what they're doing in real-time, but the experience of playing The Last of Us and watching The Last of Us is entirely different. I want the best for the Silent Hill 2 movie, but there's no way it's going to capture the raw hopeless dread of standing in the apartment corridor listening to the radio buzz and debating with myself whether to keep walking forward. There are things that a game can do because of that interactive element, because of the expectations baked into the medium, that you cannot do in any other medium.

Automata, for instance. You play Route A as 2B. Then you go through New Game+, but instead of playing as 2B, you play as her partner, 9S-- going through the same story, but seeing it from a different perspective, and seeing different events during a period where they were separated. It even does a really neat trick that could only be done in a video game; it previously recorded an interaction you had at the start of 2B's route, when she was being brought back online and 9S was talking her (that is, you) through the menu. The game remembers what YOU, personally, did in that menu, so when it comes time for 9S to go back through that moment, you watch yourself dicking around in the menu while 9S awkwardly waits for you to figure out what you're doing.

You can't get that effect in a movie or a book.

And the game keeps doing little meta things like that. You can find the fallen bodies of other players littered across the map from where they died. It's kind of amusing to see what scrapes other people got into, but it gave me great pause when I wandered down to Emil's grotto and the room outside his home is stacked with corpses. There is nowhere in the game like this and the gut-drop terror about what I was about to stumble into is hard to properly express.

Because your characters are androids they save the game by literally uploading their memory at different vendors and downloading into a new body when they die or fast travel. It becomes second nature to lay down a save when you run past these places such that you barely even think about it.

Then you play New Game+ for a third time, which is teased as telling the story from another character's perspective, A2.

Except it doesn't.

New Game+2 -- Route C -- relies on the complacency that's been established both by the fact that you played Routes A and B, and by the natural expectations of a video game. This is how New Game+ works, you replay the story; this is how the game has worked so far, we'll get a different perspective. It preys on your expectations, so when it throws all pretense out the window it's not just a fun twist it lands with a power that you wouldn't get from a novel. In a book you'd reach the halfway point, the false climax, and see that you have half a book left; in a movie you'd notice there's another hour on the runtime; in a television series, there's another season. A video game? The credits rolled. Twice. What is happening?

The save system you've been taking for granted suddenly infects the story itself. Your lifeline is shattered; you no longer casually restore to a new body when you die, it's GAME OVER. The NPCs you've been relying on in the orbital base? The cute romance between two Operator's you've been listening on? Everybody's either dead, or now they're elevated enemies you're going to have to kill on-field. Did you notice that 9S actually has a couple more gameplay options than 2B? That's because he's the real protagonist, jackass, your waifu is dead.

And the beats land and land and land not just because it's a compelling story, but because you are the one controlling it. You are the one building up expectations around a video game and watching every comfort that the game has established get ripped out from under you. You dance between 9S and A2 and when you reach the finale and they fight each other you choose the winner by inhabiting that character and killing the other. And of course it all culminates into ending E, where you -- you, the person holding the controller, the last human being in this world, the only entity with any true agency -- fight the end credits. The whole thematic crux of the story was existential philosophy, the meaning of existence, the fact that humans alone (not the androids, not the machines, humans) have agency and the power to give life meaning, and it's only by your human ass and a bunch of strangers, who are the echoes of people who deleted their save files for you, shooting down the end credits that you can reach apotheosis.

You cannot do this in a movie. You cannot do this in a book. You cannot compress the game to just its cutscenes and feel everything you are meant to feel. It's the gestalt of the experience. There are stories and experience that CANNOT work without being a video game, and the pacing of Automata in particular is very intentional. It does. Not. Work. Without the repetition and expectation of the first two routes.

I know that it does turn some people off, which is fine. If you don't have the patience to go through the same story twice with the perspective shift, that's fine. It can be a big ask. Lily herself admits that her problem is that she doesn't have the patience. RPGs really just aren't for her. But there is a reason that games are designed the way they are. Sometimes the reason is 'lol padding', yes, it absolutely happens. But many times -- especially when it comes to the actual narrative -- games are designed as they are with very deliberate intent, even if you don't pick up on its consciously. You not understanding that doesn't make them bad.[

A final observation: she's bitching about the story requirements on a Game Over screen. So it's not like she even finished a route and then said 'I don't want to do that again', she died (in the Copied City, looks like, which is about... 3/4 of the way through a first run? And then got pissy about it.

tl;dr:
You're an incompetent retard, Lily. That's not the game's fault.

… South Park and Rick & Morty are both for adults though?
It's main target are adults since they're adult animated shows, yes.

If kids happen to see it because their parents don't care about controlling their consumption of media, that is a different issue entirely.

According to Liliana's logic, My Little Pony was also an adult animated show just because a large chunk of adults were watching it. Same with Bluey actually.

I often get asked "If I put all your videos on a playlist, would that support you?". And the unfortunate answer is that would take longer and support me far less than just being a Legacy Tier patron. $5 on Patreon is the equivalent of 1,000 views on Youtube.
I like how Lily gives precise instructions on how to be a good paypig. Lily should lean into this even more as it amuses me greatly.

I got the long answer for ya.

I would describe this clip as Lily putting her fingers in her ears. The game is not abiding by her incredibly shallow and obtuse requirements for what makes a good story, and thus it is disrespecting her time.

Lily is bored the entire stream until they finally turn Nier off. For whatever reason she even installed a mod that makes 2B's skirt longer. She claims it was to avoid demonetization, for some reason I doubt that.
After Nier is shut off we are threatened with the possibility of a playthrough of DMC1 where Mikay does the Bonnie voice the entire time. Please fuck no.
Once we enter the vibe zone it is just 2 straight hours of Lily babbling into the mic will Mikay murmurs in the background.

After briefly talking about spoiler culture Lily starts ranting about J K Rowling, wishing she would die already, and imagining how much JK likes girl cock. Yick.

This is a Null-tier rant, if you've ever listened to MATI.

After they play Soul Quest there is a looooong pointless diatribe about the gen 7 of video games and PC being better. Lily blames totalbiscuit for people not wanting to use a mouse and keyboard. Idk.
She's excited for the new NomNomNami game. Nami even featured some art by Mikaila on her site, which according to Tuna Lily has been quite active on.

Lily has found yet another person to orbit around.

I think something is wrong with her youtube because it keeps streams going even after she's ended them. It doesn't happen on twitch so something's up with that.
