American citizens enjoy the privilege of generous freedom of speech rights to express or not express nearly anything they want, they're not obligated to get swept up into a cause. You will twist this to imply that I'm saying I'm ok with Americans wanting to kill Americans and overthrow the country, so I'll elucidate what I mean like you're a five-year old: an American isn't "supposed" to do anything and our ethos outright rejects saddling people with guilt for an inference on their views based on what they didn't say; it's perfectly acceptable to be opposed to the idea of anti-American foreigners but also be opposed to intervention in their lands. One such reason for holding this stance is that retaliation, even if justified, will in turn further Iran's hatred of America and lead to escalation, so it's preferable to simply stay as far away as possible and let their neighbors, who do not have the luxury of watching from an ocean away, deal with them rather than investing anything of ours.
