The crazy progressives of Massachusetts have decided they are the one who get to say how often and how far you get to drive.
They have mandated a new bureaucracy branch, a "Driving Czar", whose role is to reduce the VMT (vehicle miles travelled) to meet the already insane Net Zero 2050 goals. It's her job to make sure you use your car as little as possible by imposing new fee's and ensuring all new infrastructure projects "have a realistic plan to meet the Net Zero goals) as well as planning to introduce a "vehicle miles travelled tax" for those who drive "too much".
Of course being the rabid dystopian they are they named the bill the "Freedom to Move Act" in the usual sadistic reversal of tone.
I'd say enjoy your cars while you can, it's only a matter of time until only "necessary trips" are allowed. Necessary for the elites of course, not for you plebs.
The group would assess and report on strategies “necessary to reduce statewide vehicles miles traveled through the establishment of an equitable, interconnected, accessible and reliable network of non-personal vehicle transportation options and through land use policies that reduce the need for personal vehicles,” according to the bill.
TLDR: you will live in the pods, you will not travel and you will be happy in your urban hellscape plebs.
