Growing up I lived in an apartment with "Oregon Pine"/Douglas Fir flooring and doors. The person who built our the old neighborhood (Isidore William Schlesinger) did so in the 30s. He wanted the place to look and feel like New York, so he encouraged developers to make flats in the style of New York apartments, including by using American materials. I haven't lived there in years.

I should add that White Pine is garbage wood but its extra garbage in modern times because of how it is raised and harvested. Other pines produce much better timber, but only when raised correctly.

A lot of the "softwoods" are double trash now because the trees aren't allowed to fully mature and they are encouraged to grow too fast. This means overly large growth rings and that negatively affects strength. This is why pine from the nordic regions is usually of better quality, the cold winters retard growth and create a denser internal structure. Government subsidies make the investment less risky so they will hold off the extra decade or so to harvest more mature trees.

He comes across sad and disappointed to me. He gave Elon a chance, genuinely found the spaceX shit cool, gave him a job in the government to show off his strengths, invited him to watch WWE with him (a genuine hobby for Trump, something he truly enjoys), kept an open door for him to hang out whenever he wanted, accepted his eccentricities, hung out with Elons son, allowed Elon to hang out with his son, and really made Elon a part of his family knowing that Elons relationship with his own family was fucked and he could use a surrogate and to feel belonging.

I don't think they were best friends or anything but I think Trump had a growing fondness for him. I think he genuinely enjoyed hanging out with him and is genuinely disappointed in how Elon is acting. The classic "I'm not mad I'm just disappointed" when you fall short of expectations. Even more fitting because Elon acted like such a child over disagreements and nitpicking.

He could have disagreed in private, stated publicly he has some issues with the BBB but kept it respectful, decided to agree to disagree and respect the strategy of the president of the United States. He had a million different options that would have been decent.

He chose utter selfishness and personal attacks on a public platform instead. That is disappointing.

As a side note I saw this tweet and had to do a double take because I thought I was still on KF and the tweet was going to end with "total fake news death". Who on the Whitehouse team is writing these fucking tweets?

We already do this with Hungarian names. In English, we say "Viktor Orban" or "Miklos Horthy", using the first-name-first order, instead of "Orbán Viktor" or "Horthy Miklós" in last-name-first order that's used by Hungarian names.

Just a short list of easy charges: Damage to federal property, intimidating law enforcement, undermining or impeding law enforcement. Jeez on any day that ends in y, if I did this at my local jailhouse I would be gagged and bagged in moments. I'd be in jail so fast that I would need to ask for legal counsel yesterday.

I don't understand or see a reason to allow this kind of violent and destructive behavior.
