Nonlethal doesn't fucking exist and is a lawsuit liability. Pepper spray can kill someone on a bad day. Less than lethal is the accurate term. Isn't supposed to kill, but sometimes does

Less lethal can still kill or maim at close distances, while nonlethal is considered to have a much lower risk of bodily harm than less lethal. But in reality there's nothing really "non lethal" because you can pretty much find a way to kill somebody with anything

THEY USED to use the american 180 for riots, carrying between 165 and 275 rounds of 22lr. Generally less lethal than other rounds but enough you HAD to stop and get medical care or you'd probably die. OR it was just harder to shrug off than gas or rubber bullets

There’s no other pallets around, some are in the back of the gate, but these are in front of the gate. Protestors apparently threw these bricks at ICE agents.

Governor Newsom is floating the idea of withholding federal taxes.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let him do that. We know how bad the IRS gets with normal people, Please give justification to SEIZE ALL OF CALIFORNIA

I've been thinkign about this since i seen some politician from california threaten that over the past few days. What would be the likely response to that?

If he were to actually do this, it would seriously screw up any California taxpayer filing their 2025 Federal Tax Return if what was withheld by employers didn't match up with what was forwarded to the IRS. To be brief, California taxpayers affected by this could potentially receive an IRS notice that they underpaid their Federal Tax obligation for 2025 and they would be on the hook to pay the difference with penalties and interest possibly tacked on. And we all know how unhappy taxpayers get when they expect a refund and instead get told they have a balance due. Whether the anger is directed at Newsom for his boneheaded move or if its deflected to Trump as Orange Man Bad would remain to be seen.

I'm not sure if there are penalties the IRS could assess to California, the state treasury (or its equivalent), or those individuals personally. I believe businesses who fail to remit taxes can be required to pay them into a trust fund in order to ensure compliance moving forward. I have no idea if a similar provision exists for states willfully failing to remit those same taxes.
