Anisa's mother is absolutely not normal and very obviously a contributing factor to why Anisa is the way she is. I finally pinned down what murder case their relationship reminded me of! Anisa is speeding towards the Jodi Arias ending of this story.

Personality wise the two aren't exactly the same--Jodi changed herself for Travis Alexander who used her to relieve his sexual repression. Anisa trying and failing to find personality is more for her own ego than to please Ian.

Ian like Travis couldn't say no or just shut down the relationship completely. Ian is a pill zombie but deep down he can see the red flags from her and knows he should end things. Travis kept Jodi around for casual sex even though she was clearly unstable.

What do both couples have in common the most? People in the man's life not liking the new woman and knowing something really bad is about to happen. We joke he'll pull a Benoit and kill Anisa because of brain damage but I think it would be Anisa going in for the kill.

Other than Anisa being unhinged and controlling, I don't see too many similarities between her and Ian and Jodie Arias and Travis Alexander. I think she's so hateful and spiteful that it not only shows up on her face and makes her go from average looking to off-putting, but also makes her especially stupid. When all of your motivations are based on hate and narcissism, it shows.

Besides tormenting her husband, this shows up in her fake activism era. She left Kate on read because she's not a popular twitch streamer or an influencer that would give her clout, so shouting her out or making a single tweet bringing awareness to child brides to support Kate wouldn't benefit Anisa in any way, so she simply didn't do it.
