I'd say the cameras are what's keeping it from escalating. When watched they behave more, and if the cameras put away the violence may intensify to the point of bodily harm or death.

• The midterms are still 18ish months away.

• Social media has been liberated from the Thought Police, and the raw footage is reaching the masses.
• Nobody believes the dinosaur media's "muh mostly peaceful" balldodash anymore.
• The authorities have acted proportionally and reasonably. All the footage shows the rioters are the instigators.
• The rioters' win conditions are much steeper (stop all deportations). Trump's win condition is to maintain order until this blows over.

All signs from Trump indicate he's willing to see this through. He's not gonna cuck out on his biggest agenda piece.

I could be wrong. He might fuck it up. But it doesn't feel as hopeless this time around.
