As I've said before, Trump needs to enact the Insurrection Act and go through the process of arresting Governor Newsom and Mayor Karen Bass ASAP before this has the potential to get uglier.
This is what LA voted for. I really empathize with your rational point of view, but the voters need to decide if they want safe streets or gentle policing. They can't have both and cracking down immediately allows them to remain delusional about their views. Nothing creates life-long anti-communists better than living under communism.

Also, it is blatantly clear that some of you have never been a parent. When your child is throwing a tantrum and slaps you, you don't head-kick your child and start wailing on them just because you are better at violence. You show restraint during the tantrum and punish them later when their rage bender is over and they can process it. You also show restraint to show your children how out of line dramatic their behavior was.
Back to the riots, this is not an insurrection. This is a crowd of less than 10,000 people in a city with a population of more than 5,000,000. It is taking up around 10 city blocks of the city. Most of LA isn't even impacted. Declaring it an insurrection would be a massive overreaction. The city police are perfectly capable of handling this, they just refuse to. The state is more than capable of handling this but again they refuse to. So let them, the people voted for this.
The rioters have not taken up arms against the government, and druggies throwing rocks and concrete chunks does not constitute an armed force. Words have meaning and I am tired of people catastrophizing every situation with the most dramatic language available. It is ruining the sense of nuance and scale built into the English language.
The NG and the Marines are in place to warn the rioters to moderate their chimpout. The rioters fall apart when the police decide to clear an area and they haven't forced any police to retreat from any federal building they are protecting. The rioters haven't even prevented ICE from deporting people in LA.
The people pushing and funding this will be investigated and their networks dismantled. They are going all out now because they will never be stronger, their influence will only weaken from here. It is not a valid insurrection and the left doesn't deserve the fake legitimacy to their ego.
