"Post your Art" Thread

Something I had an idea for around halfway through the game, and decided to actually do it after beating the game.

a thing i made a while ago. cant find the original though, but im sure i will eventually.

forgot to mention; i like using this technique with pictures of characters, specifically ones with nice, solid linework because it shows up well in the finished product. its kinda hard to keep much semblance to the original artwork without going out of my way to, but solid linework and flat shading makes that a lot easier.

A doodle for the deviant art event today. They sure are behind on their memes.
I never did get the hang of painting and whatnot digitally. Never had the patience. Oddly enough, I really enjoy painting landscapes with actual acrylic paints, though.

I've been practicing free-form digital painting for 7 years, and it wasn't until last year that I finally felt good about what I made. Conversely, I hate physical mediums, they are slow to make and mistakes can be permanent. However, I did have to get good at the traditional mediums before my digital work really started to shine.

Might as well post my art as well. I'd post my newer shit, but I get the feeling that if I did, it might backfire. So have stuff that was made from 2014-2016. Aside from the concept drawings of guns. That was made rather recently.

Lookin' good! I did traditional mediums more than digital personally.
Thanks. I do a bit of both, honestly. I tend to find myself drawing something with a pencil, then taking a picture of it and inking and coloring it digitally. I'd post some digital stuff, but like I said, I get the felling somebody would find where I normally post shit or something.

I should draw something just for the farms, or something. It's been a while since I drew anything, really.

Hullo. I'm the ultimate lurker. Technically, this is my first post in the couple of months I've had an account... and it's OC shit.

It's supposed to be a genderbend of a male character, but let's be real-- animu style means he looks the same no matter what.

Despite being late to the party here, I tended a pear on my new Cintiq I just doodled on. Still got quite a lot to learn about using it.
Learning how to use the device itself or how to use an image manipulation program with the device? The former might take a week or so, the latter might take years so don't get frustrated.

Let me know if you need any pointers about Photoshop or other digital techniques. I recommend learning about adjustment layers as soon as possible.

Well I already had experience in the former (via my Android-OS'd Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2), it's the apps that are a challenge to me I suppose. This piece was done in Sketchbook Pro 2015 (a hacked version since I don't have the sort of income to keep paying a subscription they want you to do these days, better off if you owned it outright if you could afford it), of course I also downloaded a few open source ones like Gimp and Kirta.

I will!

Man, I wish I had a cintiq. I imagine it gets rid of the issue of hand-eye cooridination that tablets have, is that correct? The main issue is their cost. I have another hobby that's ridiculously expensive (guitars), so that sort of take up a lot of priority.

I should probably draw more. It's been at least a week or two since I even doodled something.

Say, what program do you use?
Just Autodesk Sketchbook, though this drawing used a cracked edition of the 2015 version before they went to the subscription model. I paid for the Android version I've used previously.

I never had an issue with hand-eye coordination on my intuos or any other model. It's basically muscle memory once you get used to it, kind of like riding a bike. I recommend a cheaper tablet before spending money any Cintiq model.

ALSO: always go for the small model of any tablet that isn't of the Cintiq line. You'll only ever use 60% of the drawing area anyway, so you'd be throwing money away since in any IMP you can zoom and pan the image to the part you want to work on which will almost always be near the center of the screen.

Just Autodesk Sketchbook
I highly recommend just pirating photoshop and learning to use it. Despite the higher learning curve, you'll be glad you did in the long run, trust me. Autodesk is to a 4-cylinder engine as Photoshop is to a 5.6 liter v8 engine. I've been using it for nearly a decade and I still have only used maybe 30% of it's full functionality since they keep adding stuff to it. However, if you don't have a powerful CPU and GPU, Photoshop has some tools that will bring your PC to a crawl (such as the mixer brush) when working with images greater than 16 megapixels (4000 x 4000 px), as I often prefer to do.
